I wouldn't worry about it. The smell is not that different from stock and besides, the smell isn't going to get you pulled over.

They test for emissions in NJ, right? (My car is still registered in NY). You might fail on that and if you drive your car uninspected, the po-po CAN pull you over for that.

IIRC the fine for running without cats is some rediculously high number because it's really a federal emissions law. That being said, I've never heard of anyone in NJ getting any crap for it... just make sure you save your stock cats for inspection time.

they are illegal in nj...only if you get caught you can be fined...dont rememeber anyone ever getting caught..probably just fail inspection because of the emmissions

just curious, how does a cop know if you have test pipes on or not?

does he whip out a jack and jack up your car to inspect it?

Ca is strict emmission laws but only the CHP can inspect ur car ..I have seen in person at the local street races where local sheriff block off race track call in the CHP they inspect. if your car does not have a cat they will inpound the car plus fine you like $1200.00 this was in the 90s' dont know what the current fine amount is.

But it isnt exactly a bad thing y'know? Helping the environment is a good thing. In China, you can barely breathe that excrement-air from the factories and catless cars.

Whoa there. I'm a fan of big power as much as the next guy, but c'mon. Cats play a very important role in reducing the emissions of a car. I'm personally okay with high flow cats (since they still work great), and I think California's laws on aftermarket cats are just stupid. However, test pipes are a whole different story. Keep those cats on man. Even if you run high flows, at least you're still helping reduce emissions from your car. Test pipes are just bad mojo.
