Default How much louder are test pipes?

Their cheap price and max power gains are tempting. But how much louder would it make my exhaust? Check my sif for mods.

Thanks.

I just caught the threads on all the hissing and possible rattles. People even getting hissing with HF Cats, no thanks. Guess I am done with my exhaust mods then! Heh.

Now to wait and see how that 350EVO IM does....

At idle and parking lot speeds, it's about the same as stock (if you're still running the stock exhaust like I am) but it barks pretty loud if you punch it at around 2700 rpm's.

I used to drive an MR2 turbo with a 3" turbo-back exhaust and that was much, much louder. It used to easily set off car alarms left and right whenever I started the ignition. That thing was very loud even at idle. When it was boosting, it got unbearably loud, especially while driving through underpasses. My ears practically bled.

Sometimes the problem is not the pipe, it is the actual o2 sensor that has parts in it that rattle...its not the pipe itself per se that is making the noise...

i have stock exhaust and the AAM spec test pipes 2.5inch stainless steel....never been happier, exhaust note is MUCH louder compared to stock...i had my friend drive my car through a parking garage late at night once...and it sounds amazing! but you will get a rasp, i dont get any rattling with my test pipes....with this hissing...i cant really hear it...the supercharger just makes too much noise

here are some pics of our products we are releasing or have released!

It does raise the loudness factor but this depends alot on what type of exhaust you have in the first place. If you have an exhaust that is loud on a stock Z it will be rediculously loud with Test Pipes, however if you have a street legal (95db or below) exhaust it will get a little bit louder but will be bareable. The hiss/rattle is only on decel around 2500-2000 rpms and really isn't that annoying considering the HP gains you are getting. Just downshift or upshift to stay outta that range when cruising and it wont bother you at all. If you are in a state that doesn't have emissions testing, like mine, get the best performance with a test pipe!

First I put the Nismo Cat-Back on and noticed a moderate increase in sound output. I was afraid to go with test pipes for the reason described, so i put the Kinetix hi-flow cat's on instead. It made it a good bit louder than the nismo cat-back, and at first i wasn't sure if i liked it, so i kept my oem cat's just in case. It's been months; haven't put the oem's back on yet! I came to like it quickly and it's really not much louder if any than your everyday v8 'stang. And, it is still reasonably quiet at cruising and is quiet when you let off the throttle (no "off-throttle droning").
