Default Fun's Over--Should've Listened To U Guys

Well, cruising downtown ATL on the way to the hot spot in Atlantic Station and sure enough my test pipe cracks making my car sound like a bike.

Bought the Intense MS resonated pipes a couple months ago and really enjoyed the aggressive tone with the stock exhaust still installed. Welp, no more it's back to those DAMN cats now until I pick up a complete exhaust. Should've listened to you guys and spent the extra coin for a better set of pipes. OH WELL, live and learn!!!

That is one serious crack. The most impressive part is that its not the weld, its the actual piping that cracked. Usually its the welds

Most likely it started at the weld and spread from there. Chances are there was some undercut when that bung was welded to the pipe or there is alot of torque on that pipe for some reason.

Personally i'd get it rewelded, and if you are really **** (like me) get it tig welded with an argon purge.

FYI: a proper weld is always stronger then the material you are welding. Improper blending of the materials or undercut will usually cause a weld to fail.

well it looks like the crack started at the weld on the bung. notice how it's widest there and then goes in both directions? seems like the welding process is weakening that area of the pipe somehow....

If you dont use the cat bracket I think all test pipes will crack. Just weld it up and take the car to a exhaust shop to get brackets make so the stock cat bracket will work.

I think the key to using the megan test pipes to make sure you have somone weld a support bracket onto the pipe. Without a support bracket that bend in the pipe is taking all of the stress from the weight of the exaust system.
