If you're planning to get a tune that sounds good road warrior.

I personally don't see why crawford plenum should perform much better than a simple spacer. Both mods do the same thing, increase plenum volume.

If you check out my thread on my results with cipher, you can see I still need some tuning. After 4 months the stock ECU just can't adjust to where it should be, clearly the stock ECU is not meant for max power, it is meant for economy.

https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-drivetrain/215703-my-progress-with-cipher-charts-included.html

The fact that the car still seems to be pulling strong gives me a good indication that there is plenty of power to be unlocked with tuning.

i know i need a tune for sure...but i am considering swapping out my crawford with the spacer...hence my aforementioned question. would there be any benefit, or disadvantage in changing these out as far as performance goes?

i am getting the mrev 2 for sure....this seems to be worth the money imo but i also want the best combo to go with

thanks for the info

The plenum and spacer will all perform similarly but there will be some amount of difference.

In fact, you can see how they compare on the 287 engine by seeing the dyno plots from the Sport Z Magazine Plenum Mod Shoot Out.

I also compared the spacers in a similar manner and found the same results.

The 5/16" spacer makes a lower peak power but a higher average power than the 1/2" spacer when used with the MREV.

You can expect to see very similar gains between a 1/2" spacer and a cast plenum.

Click on the "shootout" link below to see how they compare.

yeah just keep the crawford plenum then, you paid money for it, no need to replace it.

the bottom line here guys,

is having the spacer better than having my crawford?

lets take into consideration a full tune and the addition of the mrev2 in my particular case and strictly speaking performance.

thanks for the responses

I'll let you know how I like it after the tune.

also, did you get the thermal or just spacer and how much?
Yes this kit included the iso-thermal gasket. For pricing, check out MD's website or mynismo.com

is having the spacer better than having my crawford?
no, unless you want to keep the stock strut bar instead of using crawford's.

were you able to keep the stock strut?
no offense but you should be able to find the answer to this one on your own. It should be listed on MD's website. Hint: the answer is yes

I think you made a wise choice in keeping the Crawford Plenum. There is really no difference between the two. But if you still want to sell it, give me first dibs

you put 2 and 2 together my man...if i do decide you were the first on my list anyways.

i am going to get the mrev2 and keep my crawford, and then giver a tune and see what happens...then i will decide...but for now i am going to hold on to it.

thanks for your interest

If you're planning any other mods, such as cats, test pipes, headers, exhaust, or aftermarket intake, I would wait to install those before tuning.

When are you going to dyno it? Cant wait to see the results! Also, you going to do a dyno with stock intake and then add the popcharger and see if there is a change? That would be interesting!

Did you tune it already? If so did you notice a performance difference on the butt dyno? Do you have a nonrevup?

Sorry for all the questions but I am getting ready to buy the MRev2 and thinking about the spacer too, but am interested in what kind of difference I'll see with the added spacer and a UTEC tune . Since your Crawford plenum is kinda like the spacer it will be interesting to see the results!

well i do feel a difference to be honest...but that could be attributed to the tune also. i was still dialing in my tune before the mrev2 and now i am very close to being done with it installed. i do have the non revup btw

i guess the dyno will tell the story.

as far as the pop charger...i am still enjoying my stock air box right now. i would be real curious too if the pop charger made more hp...it is a wait and see right now. i don't have the cash to keep getting on the dyno.

I think the pop charger is only useful when the car is in motion. When the car is sitting still like on a dyno, it's hugely susceptible to heat soak.

Higher intake temps will lower HP on a dyno. Most likely if you start with a cold stock airbox, do a dyno run,... then switch to popcharger, let everything cool down, and do another dyno run, you will see better HP.

But if you do a few dyno runs back to back, as the whole engine bay heat soaks the popcharger will probably lose power.
