I think stock Z's are supposed to lose 20%, so 287*.8 = 229.6

which is what I ran basically...I didn't expect the exhaust modification to make a difference in power and the popcharger is good for about 5hp to the wheels or something (when it's clean I guess). So I think I'm right where I should be. If I get the chance to dyno it again for free, I'll try to do it 3 ways; with the stock muffler, without it, and with my custom piece. Maybe I'll clean my air filter too before then.

stock dynos can differ quiet a bit. I usally see 230's, a few 240 somethings. But the actual dynos used and the weather can make a big difference as well.

i was changing my y pipe and mid pipe tonite and i was curious on how it would sound like without the y back...... WHOA. I'm convinced. I was defanitely contemplating driving it around...... but then again, the police here would hear me a mile away and fine me big time. It sounded like some kind of race car or something. My roommates were in their bedrooms and they thought I had woken up some sort of demon car. Nice.....

Yeah, I did that too a couple years ago. Took it to a muffler shop and had them cut out the resonator and weld in a piece of straight pipe in it's place. When the car was cold it sounded like A$$!! It buzzed like crazy and just sounded really ricey and bad. I must admit though that once the exhaust heated up, it sounded pretty good especially with the high-flow cats. I would have kept it like that just for the sound, but I could DEFINITELY feel that I lost power with the resonator gone. I don't know if it was not enough back pressure, or too much, but there absolutely was a loss of power. I never got any dyno numbers without it off, but the butt-dyno could really tell the difference with and without it. I bought another mid-pipe with the stock resonator and swapped it out after about 2 weeks.

ok ...
if you drive around without the muffler...
dont they pull you over for not having exhaust tips?

no, but it might prompt them to pull you over if they realize that and then start thinking about how loud it is

like we've said a bunch of times, it's not THAT loud and I don't think you would get pulled over for it...but then again, you never know

if you've got the time and small amount of money it costs, it's definitely fun as hell to drive around with
