you can pick up maf houseings pretty cheap. 70 and up if i remember correctly. i know alot of gm's and fords use hitachi style maf housings. i know the ls series have them i cant remember the exact sizes on all of them but i know they use hitachi style. like the c5 comes in 85 and reduces to 80

a 5 sec search and rough example.
i would like to see a 90mm hitachi dbw tb, a 90 mm maf and the 3.5inch tubing all used. if thered be a large amount of tq loss. what did you use to tune for the difference aceman. i read the thread but i dont recall. utec nvm.

I got the 3.5" treadstone for my modified Vortech setup, so that my Uprev MAF GT could handle ~600whp (with the stock 2.75" MAF tube the MAF GT could only handle ~500whp max)

Would it be possible to use the factory MAF sensor on the treadstone MAF housing? Since the factory MAf doesn't need to be upgraded on a NA car, just the diameter of the pipe. Anybody know if this would work?

Yes, it has been done many times...just make sure you get the right housing that will work with the Nissan MAF...

But if I understand this correctly, the car won't run, or run right until it has been retuned for the larger housing. Is this something that can be done with an email tune, say using an Uprev, or does the car need to be dyno tuned?

That is correct, you will need a new tune with a different sized MAF housing...I'd like to say that you will need a dyno tune no matter what when you make these changes, but you should to contact Uprev to see if they have a canned/email tune for different sized MAF tubes; I doubt they have it, but its worth a try...

3.5" Low was good enough for +600whp w/ Uprev Maf GT...

Or I suppose you can also get a 3" tall...

All you need is to have the MAF scaled. There is a lot of people/tuners that have the formulas already for larger MAF housings.
