FINALLY ANSWERED: What is the best __________ ? (Intake, Exhaust, headers, etc)
Hello when i got my z it came with injen short cold air intake and cheap filter. I don't have any of the factory intake parts. I would like to change the filter out and was wondering if i could order the wolf tech cold air kit and if it would still bolt up to what i have? Or if i have to order the factory parts and start over?
Ok, I have researched this topic since getting the Z. I hear some lose power, some gain power, some gain 50whp. I am between Stillen Gen2/3, Nismo, JWT Pop Chargers, and Injen. This is for the HR motor. I have a catback exhaust. No tune. If i do get intakes, do I need one? Or do I already need one with the exhaust. ANY info will help. But I am wanting to know which intake to choose ultimately. JWT seems to sound good with 4-11 hp gain, Stillen Gen 3 is.. Idk loosing hp to gaining 20. No info found on Gen 2. Nismo 350's are only 5 hp more than regular ones, and I have not seen many hp losses with the Nismo. Injen seems about like the Stillen. So which to pick?
Thank you

Just from past threads 4 years ago saying after tune and intakes there are rare occasions with the Gen 3 stillen and injen are making high teen to 20 whp. Just what im reading. Idk if its true. Was gonna come on here for personal experience opinions and stories before commiting $250-700 for intakes.
my hr with full bolt-ons and tune only gained like 15-16. if you want to keep the air cold, get the injen or the stillen gen3. i had the stillen gen2 and hated them, swapped them out for the takeda ones mainly because the takeda has the dry filters. dont forget that the long tube intakes you have to take the bumper off to install them or clean the filters

they will both have good and bad things about them. the reason more people get the injen is because the part that goes through the radiator support is essentially a coupler and it is flexible, with the stillen you have to cut the opening some
and thanks on my car

Understandable. So regarding which intake creates the most power.. Theres not a clear #1? Just go with preference in looks, soundclips, and if any minimal gains (and the setup of intake and ease to clean/install)
yup, alot people swear by the factory boxes with K&N filters, the oem ones are completely sealed and a true cold air... but they look like poo. if you wanted to keep those and change it up some take out the accordion part and replace it with a post MAF tube with something like this

I honestly don't think you researched much at all... There's a thread called "the best intake, exhaust etc" you'd be beat getting a z tube and some drop in filters, either that or go with something that is short ram as most people lose power with cai and no you don't NEED a tune, you will actually gain whp with a tune and it will be much smoother but it is not needed completely.
Read up a lot more threads, there is a thread like yours that pops up at least once a week.

Im guessing you havnt read the Top100 FAQs......maybe start there before asking questions that have been asked 1000's of times.

Maybe he should read his other thread
Like I said, the thread that's called the best intake, exhaust (and whatever else is in the title) discusses the differences between almost all brand of each part. I'm really not trying to bash you or offend you. I'm just saying you can find threads that are within a few months old that have the info you are looking for. As a person who has been in your shoes, I'm telling you this is very easy research. And don't say you can gain 50 whp from an intake, even 20 at that is just absurd. You'll be lucky to get in the 35whp range with full boltons and tune.
Every mod is personal choice, every motor may be made by the same place but they all have different power results, just because one person makes 10 whp with full boltons another may make 30whp.
Choose what you like best buy quality parts and keep it the way you want it, I may not have bought all quality parts but the stuff that isn't quality is temporary and was for my own research. Shop at z1 and other z stores and buy what you want, everything from z1 will be quality.
