what type of intake would flow better, plastic or metal or what material would be an ideal choice. On the JWT popcharger, isn't the heatshield that comes with it kind of a joke, I mean I don't think it does much. Has anyone thought of designing alittle better heatsheild for the JWT. I was thinking about buying a JWT and trying to design the heatshield alittle better, trying to keep as much heat out of the filter as possible.
-Plastic or CF will be best.
-You can search for Popcharger mods..

-Also search up on Wired 24/7

I'm not sure any particular material would be better than another, but a metal tube would seem to conduct heat a lot more so I'd stay away from that. Regardless of whay you use, the engine bay gets hot so the differences would be really minor I would think.

Thanks for the search response, I figure if someone came up with an idea I would have heard about it by now. I am going to order my popcharger in the next few days and start developing something with my dad. I will let everyone know if we come up with a good idea or not. My idea is to seal it off completely from the engine bay with some sort of aluminum box and gaskets, so that the only air you are getting is coming in from the front of the car and nothing from the engine bay

metal intake tube would have hotter inlet air temps. metal intake tube has less wall friction than a plastic tube. but since ure air is moving in tubulence flow, the friction factor isn't that great. i would stick with a plastic tube.....
the pop charger heat shield reduces the heat transfer by reflecting away the radiation heat transfer. yeah when ure car is moving, radiation heat transfer isn't that big of a deal, but if ure idling in traffic, it is a big deal.

Not trying to thread-jack, but would this actually help keep the metal tubing cool?
