Default To Everyone Who Has Test Pipes

couple quick questions..

well i installed my megan resonated test pipes today. all in all took me about 2 hours to finish. sounds great, runs amazing!!

-i did not re-install the o2 sensors b/c i was unable to get them out of the stock cats. so i taped them up and zip-tied them out of the way..

Question: what is an o2 simulator?? and does leaving them unplugged pose a problem?

-i liked the brace that held up the stock cats.

Question: what are you using to help support the test pipes, y-pipe and exhaust?? (i just used metal zip ties to help support the y-pipe.

Thanks for your help, insight and input.

Are the 02 sensors still on your car? I would suggest that you put them into your pipes because they are expensive...

An 02 sim is simply a device to make your computer think things are OEM and to keep that code from comeing up, But you need to get those sensors in the system for your sytems sake

Some cat drops come with brakets for the brace, but the fact they are so light compared with the OEM cats, not TOTALLY needed.

If you get the right tools, they WILL come out, reinstall with antisieze compound on the threads

ahhhh... so it would be good to have the o2 sensors in the test pipes?! because i couldn't get them out to save my life!

right now i just disconnected the wires and left the o2 sensor in the stock cats. it already through a Service Engine Soon light.

Yeah it would definitely be good to have those in. Also after you have them installed and your still getting a CEL you can get non-foulers which seem to have a pretty good success rate.

I had a hard time getting mine out also. And when they did come out the threads were still in the cats. My 07 was 30 days old at the time, getting the new ones was a pain. Just use caution.

I repeat ---the sensors WILL come out, just use a proper (tight fitting/snug) wrench/socket/...pipe wrench ? with a breaker bar if neccessery. They have a straight thead, not tappered and WILL break loose. If nothing else, and there shouldnt be a reason to, but, use a 02 socket and an impact.
Unlesss the vehicle is 20 years old and has been driven on the beach everyday in the summer and salty rds every day in the winter, they WILL come out

Dont use penitrating oil, it WONT help, and Never subject your sensor tip to any chemical. Some chemicals will cause them to fail. Handle them with care.

Go to your local parts shack and pay $5 for the O2 sensor removal adapter.

How is the car running without the oxygen sensors?
Are you getting a CEL?

You know the rules. If it works don’t mess with it.

If you have test pipes installed with no O2 sensor in the bung, then you essentially have an exhaust leak (unless you have plugged it) which means plenty of power loss

Well i used the plugs that came with the test pipes. so now i got some spark plug non-foulers and i am going to install those. so therefore i will have the o2 sensors plugged into the non-foulers and the non foulers plugged into the test pipes.. should work out alrgiht.

the test pipes are NOISY , clangy ... air leakage ... and it seems like the vehicle slightly has vibrations at higher speeds..

those sounds/vibrations are a combination of either rasp, rattle, and possibly a rich condition (I've seen several rev-ups go rich after test pipes install)

Tuning with UTEC / Technosquare Reflash / Osiris from UPREV, etc, will improve drivability, but do it after you have finished all your bolt ons

Beware of Megan tp's...they will more than likely crack around the resonator, or the mesh on the inside will come loose and rattle. Just telling you from prev experience. Goodluck
