Default List some outcomes of improper install of 5/16 Spacer...

Hey guys, I'll be picking up an MD 5/16 Iso Thermal Spacer in a few days, hopefully. So before I have it installed, in case something goes wrong with the install, what are the symptoms I should look out for?

I hear a noticeable loss of power (almost as if the car is engine braking?) is likely an air leak. Is that about all that can go wrong or is there anything else?

Clearly, a sudden rise in power means the installation went A-ok. Thanks, fellas.

I think you've answered your own question.

You can strip bolts VERY VERY VERY easy. IF you have an air leak, your car keeps shutting off when you try to start it. you will hear a slight whistle near the intake manifold as well.

It's too much. I would think it hit the hood after that.

If you installed the spacer/plenum wrong, you will know it! The car will run rough, if at all because of the vacuum leak.

Make Sure You Don't Strip The Plenum Bolts Like I Did Its A Pain In The *** They Break Very Easy. If You Happen To Strip Them Thought Go To A Bolt Store And Pick Some Up For About A 1.00.

Read over the online instruction manual a few times, and bring the printed instructions with you during the install for reference. I followed the instructions on the torque down sequence with a slight alteration... I didn't use a nut driver or a torque wrench... just a socket wrench with an adjustable head (can be used like a nut driver)... I put them all on in sequence by hand, then used the "nut driver" in sequence with moderate pressure, then again with as much as I could do by hand... and then one more VERY slight nudge with the wrench in the normal position... I had absolutely zero problems with the install.

The only thing I regret is not doing this mod sooner!

Members get into trouble by breaking bolts. Be realistic with torque. Follow the instructions.

It may be intuitive that bigger is better, but this is not the real word case. You get to a point where bigger gets worse. Study the charts at motordyne.com.
