It'd look pretty cool IMO...at least while new...not sure how it'd hold up to rock chips, getting dragged....and the other crap that exhaust gets put through

here's a cpl shots of mine...going to see how my point-n-shoot takes videos...not certain on sound quality of the camera.

Jett Hot is suppose to be a lot more durable than powder coating. So I'm not to concerned with rock chips. Also the car is not a daily driver..Its going to be more of a friday/track car. Thanks for the opinion, still debating getting it black. Eitherway I'm planning on doing the bumper tuck. Will you be tucking your bumper to show of the exhaust?

Red Magic,

I think we'll be OK, dude. I received my tracking information today and it should be here early next week. I plan to get it installed next Friday if possible. I'm really excited about it. I need to find a freakin' video recorder, because I lost the battery to my camera.

oh wow, had no idea that stuff was that tough. I think black would look fine, it will kinda disappear...you can call it your Ninja Exhaust....

I will not be doing the "tuck". For some reason I don't like it. I can't put my finger on a reason....just doesn't work for me

Had to repair a tire tonight so couldn't get any video shot.

Get it installed? come on man, I did the entire swap including getting it on jack stands in 1.5hrs....and that included removing the pass rear section to adjust the hangers a little.

DIY, DIY, DIY......you'll love yourself when your done.

Man, I'm tellin' ya, I really would, but I don't have access to the tools and added help; however, the main reason I can't do this is because I don't have a garage or any place to set up since I live in a townhouse. I know it isn't that difficult... but I have to park in a freakin' parking lot. Thankfully, I frequently visit a local privately owned garage and they don't charge much for operations like these.

Question: Is it conventional to lay out the exhaust and adjust the hangers to ensure the pipes sit even before it is even installed?

no worries. I've gotta give ya hell though!

on the installation. I loosely attached all bolts, then tried to twist/turn pipes to get the alignment of everything a bit better....although this was futile IMO.

the hangers themselves aren't "adjustable". and the piping is only moderately adjustable....minimal is most likely a more accurate description.

Interesting. So did your pipes end up being level on each side? If not, what else did you to do level them out?

And by "adjustable" do you mean that it isn't possible to bend them?

I dont' have access to a piping bender....but yeah if you have a mandrel bender, then it has just become adjustable. I was referring to the fact that since the pipes are all connected via flanges, there isn't any room for adjustment really...where as a slip fit exhaust has lots of adjustment potential w/o resorting to bending the pipes.

I bent the hangers on the pass side to get them closer....they aren't perfect still. but I'm going to have the tubing bent on that same side so it won't touch the rear diff....after the autox runs today its rattling against that a bit.

Here in a bit I'm going to measure the h pipe section to see if I can fit a magnaflow dual in/out muffler in that section as a replacement. If so, I'll be doing that next week. the ringing/whistle sound I get @ 3700 and above is ridiculous. If I can't fit it there, I'll look into a few other options. but this ringing sound must go away. I'm going to look inside the piping to see if my "knockoff" has the same shotty craftsmanship as the genuine HKS that gothchick has....if so that H pipe is def. going the the trash.

Well good news is the quality control on the knock off exhaust is better than that displayed by Gothchick's "HKS". My H pipe is perfect from the inside, both sides. no protrusion.

however, this still leaves my question unanswered....I disassembled the exhaust and listened to it with each section disconnected....after the midsection (W/ H pipe) is installed, and no rear sections. there is a considerable rasp that appears around the same RPM as this ringing sound...attaching one rear section yields no changes...is it possible the other side is masking the issue? yes. but regardless. I believe it has to be a rasp which is being altered via the mufflers into what can best be described as a ringing sound....I've thought up a cpl ways to possibly aleviate this.

one is replace mid section resonators with the Magnaflow dual in/out muffler.

another is to move the existing mufflers back to the flange (eliminate a 7 inch piece of pipe between the res. and the flange....and put the magnaflow in the section infront of the existing resonators (replacing the H pipe in the process).

third option is to purchase 2 bullet mufflers and place them wherever they'lll fit. if they are 12 inches or less they will fit in the rear section jsut before the mufflers, or in the rear mid section.

Was doing a little research on exhausts and found the thread on Goth Chics poor quality HKS, mainly the H pipe.

https://my350z.com/forum/intake-exha...erfection.html

That thread further tells me that buying the knock off was probably a better choice. Can't say for certain yet, I get mine on tuesday.

Also heres another thread about someone's bad experience with HKS

https://my350z.com/forum/intake-exha...quality-3.html

One thing is certain, the H pipe on HKS and the knock off seems to be a draw back in the design. Goth Chics thread shows her solution to the problem. I'm also thinking of just getting an X-pipe of ebay and trying to mount it to the HKS type exhaust before installing the exhaust onto the car. I've seen some on Ebay, stainless steel, and since they're not expensive it might be worth buying and then trying to modify for the HKS exaust and clones.

If the H pipe on my knock off would have been contructed improperly like GothChicks was I would be replacing it just like she did. but mine was flawless so I'm not certain that'd be worthwhile....looks like I may just replace the cxlighting resonators, with something else....in hope that it may quieten the exhaust a bit, and get rid of the "rasp" (for lack of a better term)

I have the cx lightning exaust and test pipes installed. I have had this setup for about 3 months. So far no problems. My only complaint is that the system has been slowly getting louder and louder.

You'll be impressed w/ the packaging as well. Mine was impressive.

I'm waiting on Magnaflow to get back to me on some questions about mufflers....I will either replace the H pipe itself w/ a magnaflow res. x pipe. (11 inch body)....I'm waiting to find out if it is indeed a x pipe, or not.

If not I'll have to use the 14 inch body version, which will require I replace the H pipe, and the resonators...due to the length...unless I get really lucky.

Well, I haven't got a chance to look at it, but the box has a gaping hole in the side of it (est. 3 in. x 4 in.). I guess that would be at the fault of FedEx. Surely, it wouldn't have hurt the exhaust, though.

Yes, fedex sucks!

my pipes were wrapped in bubble wrap...and double boxed.

Haven't had a chance? shoot, you must be boring on xmas. I tore into that thing like pedobear into a box of 12 yr olds.

My mind is a disturbing place!

For anyone curious, here's schematics from Magnaflow of the 14379 and 14386 mufflers respectively....

Based on this. I guess to replace the H pipe, It'd be necessary to use the 14386...since I'm unsure if the 14379 would allow for pressure equalization, etc...which sucks, b/c it will require I remove the front 2 resonators (1 per bank) to use the longer muffler.

Looks good!

So, let me get this straight, these little pipes that go in the center of the exhaust are for the G35 only? Is that right?
