Default Borla Headers & Exhaust DYNO topped at 232.60.....

torque. Yes baby!!!!!!!

I had my car dynoed today. Max horsepower is at 248.8 and torque at 232.6. I am happy with the results, considering my baseline dyno about 1 month ago was at 235hp and 228 torque.

ATP in Fremont, CA also did an air-fuel ratio reading. It is at 13.1, which they say is PERFECT.

Just like Borla said, there is not much more power on the headers, but If you can see the dyno chart and if I am reading it correctly, there is an definite increase in torque at around 3900 rpm.

Dyno run #1 is 4th gear
Dyno run #3 is 3rd gear

Cool. Glad I picked them up. For the price you pay for them they give a pretty good hp increase.

Hey Arvin- Did Su do the dyno's for you? Why did he have you do 3rd and 4th gear pulls? He's always had me do 5th gear pulls.

I told him to pull in 3rd and 4th because my previous dyno was at 3rd and 4th. I wanted to compare both. Unfortunately, I only have a printout on paper of the previous run.

And they only charge $65 bucks. Cheap!!!!!

1st run 4th gear
2nd run 4th gear
3rd run 3rd gear
4th run 3rd gear

Hi Arvin;

It's your Coleman Circle neighbor to the north (about four blocks). Nice job on the post. Where did you purchase your Borla stuff? Who did the install?

I've been to Hanlee's several times but NISMO is a foreign word to them. Next time I see your Z in the driveway, I'll try to stop by.

Great results! I love seeing hard dyno numbers !

The scale on your graph really emphasises how the Z engine dies after 5,000RPM... At first i thought the engine must be suffocating but even the InJen post:

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=37061

... shows the same drop after about 4,750... Anyone know what's holding the engine back? I can't imagine it's fuel related but what else could it be?

Just a guess, but I believe it may be due to the rich condition and lack of air flow to the front cylinders that leads to what you see.

That's what I have heard too. The ECU has the engine run rich as you get to the redline to prevent engine damage. The air flow thing makes sounds right too. I hope an new intake + ECU mod can fix this.

Have you guys noticed the spike in torque around 3800 rpm? If I am reading it correctly, it is at 230 torque at 3800 rpm. Have you guys notice this on other dyno charts that does not have the Borla headers installed?

I also noticed that my air-fuel ratio dropped to about 12 on the higher rpms. Does this mean it is richer or leaner?

So 13 HP and 4 Torque for Borla headers and exhaust? Doesnt Injen SES do better than this with exhaust only?

According to Injen? Or according to someone having it independantly tested on their own car?

Nice! Looks like you got decent gains across the board.

Richer. 12 parts air to 1 part fuel

Yea but the HP number doesn't drop off till just before 6500. The car is still making good power till then. It's the stock cams that are dying off above 6.5K. A nice cam up grade would take care of the engine runnin out of breath. Then you would just run into the rev limiter. You would need a valve train upgrade and aftermarket ecu to take your rpm high enough to take the new cams to their limit.

Don't you have to convert the numbers because he did the pull in 3rd and 4th gear? I thought 5th gear was the 1:1 gear on our car. If so, the numbers would be slightly higher.

If you do a simple proportions equation 248 at the wheels with respect to 235 at the wheels = 287 hp, then 248 = 302 HP at the crank!!! Cool
