Jay,

You should consider Crawford's Plenum. It's an intake, technically speaking . For the price, it outperforms all of the intakes you have mentioned. It may not look the nicest, but it definitely performs! Actually, you can get it powder coated in a customed color for a little extra $$.

The stock 350Z intake is quite well designed, don't you think?

Stock intake is best. Spend your money elswhere. I read that our airbox is actually pressurized at speed. Cant say that about a CAI! .

I agree with fdao. If you have the dough to buy CAI then you are half way to buying a mod that will get you some bang for the buck!!

Where did you read this? If this is true why does the AEM and Injen CAI show some gains on the dyno?

I would go with the AEM CAI.

I third the response that the stock intake is the best. I have a G35C and my change to the intake was a Z tube and a K&N filter. IMO, the Z intake is just about perfect. I also second the comment about the Crawford Plenum. I put mine on about three weeks ago. This is the best bang for the buck available at this time. There is simply no downside to it's installation. My G now pulls very strongly right up redline. I can't recommend it enough.

It's VERY true... the AEM show gains on a DYNO because the car is NOT in motion and is not pressurizing.

We at Crawfords have taken the Z up to 100+ mph and our intake (Correct me if I'm wrong Doug) was making .06bar once pressurized - the AEM doesn't begin to do that.

Remember Paul's car clearly lost 10 HP with the AEM.

The key point is the air box is pressurized at speed and WOT. A CAI cannot pressurize like a "box" can. On the dyno the only advantage is the cooler air, but it does not explain why Paul lost power with the AEM. I do think his AEM was not placed correctly and this was getting very little air.

Pop charger works for me but I did install it before my break-in was over never really pushed the Z with the stock box. Maybe I'll switch back and see either way it'll be 1 or 2 hp and the sound of the Pop (like side draft Webbers for you guys over 30) is worth it IMO
