Berk or Crawford HFC's?
I searched for a thread but I couldn't find anything so feel free to tell me if there is already another thread about this. I'm looking to get either Berk or Crawfor HFC's for my 03 Z but which one is "better"? I know when it comes to intake and exhaust it's really whatever you think sounds the best. But which HFC is better quality and which one fits better? It seems to me that the Berk's are made better than the Crawford's but thats just from looking at pictures. I have also heard of people blowing out their Berk HFC's. Is this a common problem or just a fluke?

1. Do not ask:
"What is the best ______ "
a. Headers
b. Exhaust
c. Test pipes
d. High flow cats
e. Plenum or spacer
f. CAI / Popcharger / Intake
g. y-pipe
h. Similar items to (a) - (g)

i need to replace my cats too
i have had the crawfords and they fit great but i had one blow out after about 4 years on one side. the crawfords look more like stock but have great performance gains...this is a plus in california.
i have heard a lot of people blowing up their berks within a year or so...therefore i am thinking about going with the crawfords again.
still not sure yet

Let me rephrase for the guys above
Each brand has their good and bads. It is very difficult to say which one is better with your simple questions, "Which one is better?".
It is like asking which apple is red? Fuji apple? or Swiss apple? The answer is obvious... they are both red lol... just different red in the million of reds.
I personally own the Berk HFC. The time when I had this mod was with Takeda short ram only. After I've put it on the sound really opened up for me and the gain after 3500 RPM was significantly noticeable with my butt dyno.
I don't know what you like in sound or are you just after big power... that is why it is almost impossible to answer your questoin...
My main concern on the HFC/Test Pipe was not only power but also endurance. I hate my engine light poping up and I'm willing to lose a couple WHP for it. As far as Crowford, I'm not sure of their characteristics but I really liked my BERK
Hope this helps a bit more, but you need to start asking more specific questions lol and don't blame on flamers because you gave them both the gas and the torch to began with. Ask better questions please.

Now these are the answers I was looking for. Yeah in my original post I didn't really explain my question enough. I like the look of the Berk's better but who cares, it's underneath the car. I'm leaning towards Crawfords just because there aren't as many blow outs as the Berk's unless someone can change my mind.

Like the other guy said above, a lot of people on this forum use Berks. They are the most popular, therefore having threads stating that they blew out their cats will be common. If there are so many of them sold, but there are only a handful of defects, maybe like 1 percent, then that is really good.
I was actually looking to buy some berk hfc myself so i asked the vendor about the defects and why some people blew out their cats. He said the newer models have addressed that problem and getting metallic berks also helps. Also, I think they have a warranty now too, so even if you do blow them, lol blow, they will replace it.

we use nothing but Ultimate Racing since 2003, and have been very pleased with them - have customers both in the US and worldwide that we've shipped them to, and they have worked out very well

Berk does have a warranty! But it does not cover.....
1) Cost of install and removal for replacement.
2) Your time if you do it yourself
3) The down time of not having your Z till the replacement is shipped to you. (Unless you go through the trouble of putting your stock Cats on till your replacement Berk is shipped out)
All this to me = Pain in my ***/headaches!......
I'm glad I picked Crawfords. Why chance it? I read way to many complaints about Berks. So I steered away from them.
Thats my .02

i haven't really read a lot of crawford's blow outs...in fact, i think mine is the only one that i can remember. i got about 30k miles out of the one side that blew out. i liked the crawfords because of great customer service, great quality, and great performance. since i'm in cali, the stock look was a better choice for me. i am probably going to go with crawford hfc again as i have read way too many berk blowouts. i'm not saying they are bad, but i just don't see any crawford blowout postings

I think you might be the first person on here that I know of who has hks duals with crawfords lol. Have you heard the hks duals with berk compared with crawfords? If you have, can you tell me if there is a difference in sound? If not, I might go with crawford since I too want to avoid blowouts with berk. The only reason why I want to go with berk is because so many hks dual owners have berk hfc's.
