Default The INFAMOUS "Hissing" or rattle coming from the 07+'s

Okay so FINALLY after an awful winter here in NY... My Z is officially back on the road. I own a 2008 and its been in storage for the whole winter pretty much. The past couple of days i have been looking at my exhaust set up and wondering why my exhaust would be making a noise which really almost sounds identical to a "rattle snake".. It only makes the noise when im off the throttle and the rpms reach about 2300rpms till about 1400rpms...

My current set up is 2.5 inch GTM (non resonated test pipes) to the stock Y to a Tanabe Medallion Cat back system. My thoughts originally were that the noise was coming from the stock Y and the flex pipes in the Y... ANYONE have a resolution or this similar problem?

Mine started doing it as soon as my berk tp's went in. Pretty sure that's just the sound they make. Nothing wrong.

Its rasp. Nothing you can do besides go with resonated tps or HFCs.

As has been explained WELL over a dozen times.

could be and sounds like the Cats or possibly one of the hooks in that hold up your exhaust
I think the hissing sound is normal. I hear it when I rev it and it hisses when the rpm's are dropping. Its really heard usually after an aftermarket exhaust goes on

the rattling I had and it turned out to be just a hook. The big rubber grommets that hold the hooks can usually just be adjusted.

I think this concern can be laid to rest. It seems like every car 07, with any brand of non-resonated test pipes, with any aftermarket exhaust, makes this sound at the same throttle position at roughly the same rpm range.

Just think of it as the sound of freed up POWAH.

Or a rattle snake slithered up all of our exhaust tips

Just installed berk hfc's over the weekend and i too started hearing the hiss sound during deceleration. if it's something common that alot people hear then i won't worry about it too much. i'll just turn my music a lil louder

op,

Mine is a DE, but I have Berks + HR-y-pipe and Tanabe which does have the hiss on hard accelleration and on Decelleration.

I can't put my finger on it, but probably due to the different piping diameters of each connection point.

I'm curious if a resonated XYZ Pipe will do the trick as it is also excessively loud and drones horribly.
