Default HKS Hi Power VS Apexi N1

I'm doing a custom 3" catback with a single universal muffler.

I narrowed the muffler down to two choices, HKS Hi Power and Apexi N1.

I looked at some clips and I liked what I heard out of both, even there there were few for the N1 muffler. Is there any major difference in quality with these two mufflers? Can anyone who owns one of these two mufflers give me some feedback?

Im leaning towards the Apexi because it has a slightly smaller tip and looks like the can might be slightly smaller as well.. Not a fan of the big can/tip look. But I will most deffinately choose build/sound quality over size.

Any input is appreciated.

Whats wrong with a nice magnaflow? Just remember, the bigger the muffler the quieter the car. Also, are you doing a resonator?

A single 3'' pipe with a apexi N1 muffler will be rediculously loud

I have a VQ Spec V with equal length headers/y-pipe and stock 2.5" cat section.

When I had my 2.25" Greddy Evo2, my car sounded like a Z, just a little too quiet for my liking. So I bought a 3" Stromung w/ no resonator and dual tip muffler. It's a little bit louder than the Evo2 which is what I wanted, but I no longer have that signature VQ sound unless I'm at WOT.. which is probably the engine more than anything.

So I'm gonna replace the Stromung dual tip muffler with a single tip, and I like what I heard out of the N1 and Hi Power mufflers, just want some input as far as diffeneces between the two. I do realize that my car will get louder with these mufflers, but I'm thinking about replacing the cat with a 12" resonator, or keep the cat and add the resonator in the exhaust.. What ever you guys think will sound better.

Any thoughts? Is one muffler better quality/sound than the other?
Looking to make nice sounding single 3" setup, nothing over 100db LOL.. Please chime in.

I prefer the look of the HKS cans, especially the carbon wrapped Ti-tipped one. But I'm biased, I've only ever rocked HKS exhausts.

i went with the apexi n1..i really love it, its really not loud unless you step on it then its pretty loud, the sound is really deep. kind of wanted to go with hks carbon canister just because of the looks but didnt want to worry about it being to loud..cops are a pain in los angeles...long story short i love my exhaust great for a daily driver and some pretty good power gain and throttle response...plus single exits are sexy..haha

good luck with your decision!

Thanks. I was so stuck between the two that I actually pulled the trigger on a Greddy Ti-C. My Evo2 sounded good so I said screw it, I'll stay with Greddy on this one. It should be coming in this week, I'll keep you guys updated and post a clip!

Greddy Ti-C is a good choice i would say thats 3rd on my list just going with sound preference. they look sweet though.

Okay, so I installed my Greddy Ti-C muffler today.. My car sounds like a V6 again.
However, it is LOUD, which is expected since there is no resonator.
It sounds like a cross between an NA 300ZX and a 350Z, and has a boomy tone that hurts your ears after a while.. lol

So I went ahead and bought this resonator:

It's a Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonator, its 10 inches long, 3"inlet/outlet, oval shaped like a muffler (even though it looks round in the picture). The reason I chose this was because the single Greddy Ti-C systems for the 350Z have a resonator almost identical to the one I showed.. And from watching videos on youtube, it did not seem to be too loud.

So heres my question, should I replace my 2.5" stock cat section with the new resonator? Or keep the cat, cut into the 3"inch piping and weld in the resonator? What will sound better?

I would like to gain a few extra ponies by removing the cat, if thats possible.. I'm not concerned about emisissions, because I plan on keeping the cat section, and bolting it back on come inspection day.
