Default Dyno results: XERD, Injen, UR

I just got my dyno numbers from my xerd long tubes, injen intake, injen exhaust, and UR crank pulley. All I can say is that I dont really know what is going on with the power output of my car compared to others. I only put down 239hp and 228 torque. The only thing I can think of that is killing my power is that if you look at the graph my a/f starts at 14.1 which is crazy lean and stays in the 13.8 range until 5700 rpms and then drops gradually back down to around 12.5 or so. I suck at the internet....so if I could e-mail the graphs to someone so they can post them for me that would be great. Oh and it was run on a dynojet so the numbers should be viable (no mustang dyno crap). Thoughts suggestions, hurtful comments about low power output are all welcomed.

Dont worry about it too much! Some stock z's dyno in the 220's while some dyno in the 240's. Even dynojets vary from dyno to dyno. Does the car feel faster?

Well it not that low but could be a lot better. That is a high A/F that you might want to talk to Techno about an ECU upgrade specific for your car.. Do you have a baseline? Did you do an ECU reset before the dyno? Did you dyno right after install? But it sounds to me the exhaust is running you lean. But dont get all excited yet as im sure there are a ton of people on these boards that have the same setup as you and have dont something about it already..

I'll post them up

dcp225@stern.nyu.edu

My car just dynoed at 247rwhp on a dynojet with just an Injen CAI, but I am at sea level. I see you are in texas, but I believe my dyno was temperature corrected. What correction factor did you use?

exploder,

Take your car to the track and do a few 1/4 mile runs. Look at your mph. Compare that to your previous baseline runs, if you have any. This should give you an idea if your car is making more power than before. Assuming the conditions are similar.

also since your running the stock exhaust your numbers wont be as good, its a rule that when you get headers you need to do your exhaust too or else its still almost as choked up. if you put a borla or nismo on there you will probably get another 10 or so hp easy.

The exhaust is not a huge deal as long as you ditch the cats. They are the real clogger in the system. That's why I'm surprised at the numbers.

This is why a baseline is important, or at the very least an idea of what a stock Z runs on that dyno.

Are these SAE corrected? If not, call and ask them to send you the corrected results... I dynoed the exact same setup at near sea level and then at 800ft elevation and there was a consistant 5 hp/5 tq difference.

e-mail has been sent to dcp for the dynos, and i have injen exhaust not stock

Does the car feel faster? Yes, quite a bit faster actually

Was the ecu reset? No, I have been driving with them on for about 2 weeks so the ecu should have had plenty of time to learn.

I will be going to the track on wednesday for some numbers and will let everyone know what happens. My previous best was a 9.0 in the eighth. So...any other suggestions

ohh yea one more thing look what he wrote guys he has xerd headers. Which means NO CATS.. He has the injen CAI and exhaust to there is realy no back pressure thats why reseting the ECU might help also an ECU tune can add more fuel to help out your lean condition..

I guess they are dynojet dynos? I need to download the program to view them, so I'll try that one first.

here are the three plots.. I attached it in monochrome but you get the picture. For some reason your shop did 2 pulls in 4th gear and 1 in third it looks like.

I used STD correction instead of SAE on these plots in addition to smoothing of 3 instead of 5.

I appreciate you posting those up for me. Yeah, 1 run was done in 3rd and the other 2 in 4th. Anyways... the car feels great to me, I think with a slight retune of the ecu by fisherspeed or technosquare I will see some nice gains. I am also doing the kinetix intake plenum when it becomes available and then hopefully a reflash.

It's no problem. Glad to help. Dyno tuning is not the bottom line in performance. There are so many variables that, if you don't have a pertinent baseline, you many never really know exactly how much you gained from the mods.

Not sure, but i'm guessing the gears have to do with the low #'s... 5th gear is the 1:1 ratio and is where we normally dyno at.

How much do you think that would affect the numbers? The ratio in 4th is like 1.261 or something.

You'll also notice from the graph that he hits the same power peak in 3rd gear as he does in 4th.
