Question Ideal Intake Manifold Setup for N/A Build

I'm currently finishing an N/A DE engine build for my seat-time drift car (long term potential for adding an S/C). Motor has compression bumped to 11:1, JWT C9/RZ1 Cams/JWT springs, Ferrea valves, long tubes, and oiling good for ~8000rpm.

I know the DE intake will be my choke point on this engine, as I've seen in other N/A builds. I'm going standalone, with a Haltech Elite (restricted to one DBW TB, modified HR intake would be off the table), so tunability on a stock ECU isn't really a concern. My goal is to maintain a broad powerband, but ideally free the engine up in the higher RPM range. Is this possible on this platform with something off the shelf? or would something like 2th PWR's setup be the best path to go (https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-...5de-32-hp.html)?

I'd like to avoid ITBs due to the sheer cost -- I haven't seen any proven DIYs in my previous searching that would be economical. I know these engines aren't ideal for making tons of N/A power, but the long block should have good potential if I can remove this major restriction.

Only options are pretty much the Velocity or the new Hi-ram.
In all honesty I would try to modify like 2th PWR, all the available products off the shelf have issues, inconsistencies or compromises.
You could also try to make something like the manifold Sasha had, my vote will always go to the Velocity whenever F/I isn't off the table, it is better than stock even if not ideal.

I think what you're gonna find is that each intake is going to have a sweet-spot and no intake will give you the best of every world. I speculate that Nissan designed the plenum & runners to optimize torque(to reduce emissions) and give an attractive 0-60 time while not stepping on the toes of the ensuing HR engine, the VHR engine, nor the VRTT.

I don't think there is anything off the shelf that is inexpensive or reasonable priced.

CJM makes a coffin style that is $3k
or the new Hi-Ram (as previously mentioned) is around $2k.

I don't think the issue lies with intake but rather the runners. You will need to optimize your runners for maximum cylinder filling efficiency.

Thanks for the input -- wasn't aware of the new Hi-ram. Considering I can get into the Hi-ram for ~$1500 including the LS3 throttle body, I'm going to give that route a shot. Still half the price of the CJM intake or ITBs, and should really make power above stock redline while maintaining down low. Also, I am in the rare crowd though that has no issues cutting a hole in the hood if it means more power

So hands down the best N/A intake is ITB's but you are talking serious money.

Second is custom plenum. What needs to be done, is the science of plenum volume to runner length to RPM to engine displacement and make a custom plenum.

I don't know much about the Holley intake setup but I love the way it looks.

Disregard what Bealljk is going to say one this one ;-) but Kinetix over Oem Plenum/Spacer.

Cosworth is FCKING expensive and not worh it to me.

I didnt even think about the cosworth ... If you can find one! I think they go for around $1500 to $2k.

Could you give some info on the RZ1 cams? My vote would also be for the HiRam kit, you will need something that can really take advantage of the higher RPMS.

Apparently the RZ1 are their go-to paring with the C9 intake (I think the biggest cam you can put on a DE). I don't have cam spec sheet with me, but from my searching:

The C9s on Intake are .516" lift, with 248 duration @ 0.50
The RZ1s on Exhaust are .452" lift wtih 262 duration @ 0.50

So should just be longer duration, lower lift. Stockers are .377" lift and 205 duration, so excited to see what this big jump can accomplish with the hi-ram.

I agree you you Conway, I would like to see what the Hi-ram can do VS the Velocity but my money is on the Velocity being better EVERYWHERE except the last few RPMs that don't matter lol.

To bad I'm super poor or I'd test the Kinetix vs High Ram.
