I'm actually now considering switching to the K&N Typhoon instead. The car will (at least as best as possible) be half show half performance. Gains should be I would assume generally the same...but the fact that the K&N has the carbon fiber heat shield and the polished piping, makes it quite enticing. It would definitely dress up the engine compartment quite a bit more.

Thoughts?

Anybody with the K&N want to chime in with their opinions? I guess at this point a mod can move this to the engine forum lol.

The JWT pop charger is just a filter basically with a heat shield....It's a warm air intake basically. The Injen COLD AIR intake has new piping, and the filter is located at the bottom of the bumper.

That's the basic answer...but hope that helps

you truly believe there will be a 10-12 rwhp gain from an intake on our car? the plenum barely does that

I would say more realistically the K&N is like 6whp...just like the popcharger.

It really all depends on a lot of factors in terms of which is better. I think generally cold air intake is better, but unless you have a bypass valve, you also risk the potential of water being sucked into your engine (the filter would need to be submersed in water to do this pretty much, but remember that it is located on the bottom of your bumper too)

That is why I went with the K&N CAI. It doesn't go all the way down. It hangs roughly at the same level as the license plate. I love it and have no complaints.

anyone wth a cai like injen or aem or even nismo have any problems. For the most part many z owners use these and even more generally in the whole car business..

Not another one of these...

The topic of CAIs has been discussed on this board more than a few times, probably more than that even. The general consensus is that they are good for about -2 to 5 rwhp on a dyno (+- a few). Take in changes in temp/humidity/dyno error/quality of gas/... well you can see where this is going. Just my experience.

By the way, I'm no CAI hater as you can see in my sig. But I have mine for the look/sound, not performance. Oh and no problems with the nismo, except the filter gets dirty rather quickly, especially after I did the DIY ram.
