Default installed kinetix V.4 plenum

well I installed my plenum yesterday took 2 1/2 hours because i was scared to crack the thing with all of the probelms going on......directions good.....fit was ok except for 2 holes did not align properly...... just had to be real careful......swaybar fit...... the engine cover did not though......so its off right now untill i figure something out...

before i could only hear my exhaust and intake (mostly) well now i can hear the engine...... is it because of the material of the plenum???? airflow or both????? not sure... hope its normal.... the design seemed pretty solid but not sure how the other versions felt.....

also my car requires more effort to drive from a stop...... need a little more GAS is that normal????

I installed mine last night in about 1 hour. My biggest problem was getting the two hoses underneath the plenum out. The clamps/clips were facing to the back, making it hard for me to be able to open them. Also, I kept burning my hands a little. The anticipation of putting the new plenum would not allow me to let it sit there until the engine cooled off completely(lol). Any ways, I had a little trouble with the two bolts in the back of the plenum. Probably due from me starting the tightening process from the front.
As far as the sound of the engine, I noticed that too. Probably because the engine cover is now off. That piece of plastic helps a lot in terms of muting the sound of the engine. The extra gas required to get it going is probably due to more air comming in. The more air you get, the more gas you need to get the right A/F mixture.
BTW, when inspecting the plenum I did not like that looking at the inside of it, I saw like a small crater right in the middle of the plenum where the strut bar indentation goes. Was yours this way??? I saw the pictures from the group buy thread and that plenum look to have the same crater as mine. I hope that is not a weak spot for the flexing that it gets put under.
As far as driving it, I noticed that since I installed my crawford cats last weekend, the plenum has really realized the potential of them. The engine really opened up quite a bit. What a great combo!!!! (plenum/cats).

The answers are NO and NO. I don't have a strut bar (G35 coupe) therefore no rub. The infiniti plastic cover did not fit but I already knew that. I thought this wasn't a problem for 350Z owners.

My CF 350Z engine cover fit fine - it gives you spacers to use, but I skipped them and just put some longer bolts in... the cover will not fit perfectly, but you can get it on there (mine is touching the plenum, but since the plenum stays cool, I'm not worried about it deforming, etc) I'll try to post some pics later - I've been wanting ot do a full write-up, but I've been so busy remodeling a house I just bought that I've only been able to get on here at work...

Keep in mind that you'll probably need at least 100 miles of driving for your ECU to adapt to the new increased airflow that the plenum has introduced. You should notice that your power will increase noticeably.

The full writeup has already been done with the V1 plenum. You may recognize some of the pictures in the directions.

I have created a couple of videos after installing the kinetix plenum V4. The first video shows the outward flexing of the plenum. Kind of weird since one would think that it would be the other way around.

The second video is of the sound from my G35 coupe stock exhaust after the installation.

it's still has a lot of flexing.. I wonder with all that flexing, what will be the next stress point...Maybe the flange bolts... who knows, only time will tell...

I installed the V4 Plenum on Saturday along with Kinetix Racing High Flow Cats. I didn't have any problems with the fastener alignment, nor with getting the engine cover back on. I haven't put many miles on it since Saturday, so I'm not sure if the ECU is reading the increased air flow or not. I'm planning to have Techno Square flash my ECU within the next month or so. Maybe by then I will notice more of a difference. The engine is definitely more throaty sounding now than it was before. I have seen many write-ups saying the JWT Pop Charger is a good combination with the Kinetix Plenum, but so far, I'm pretty happy with the sound of the Injen CAI and Kinetix Plenum.
