Default Sound from the JWT Pop Charger

Anyone know what affects the JWT Pop charger sound ?
It sometimes has a nice roar at WOT but at other times it’s just as it was with the stock airbox - even during the same trip.

thats wierd, i get the nice growl at WOT all the time & the sweet whistle above 2.5k all the time as well......i love that sound still after months of it! the only explanation i could have for a sound difference may due to the stock plenum fully heat soaking.....but i have the kinetix v4 so i dont have much in terms of heat soak......i could be wrong, thats just a guess?

Mine sounds gr8 as well. I love the sound my Z puts out after I installed the Pop Charger by JWT. It really roars when you punch it!

WTF?? The whistle is the best part, people have asked me if i have a turbo. Like yesterday i was doing short runs up and down my cousin's block to show him my popcharger (he owns a Z too). And when we were talking about it outside his friend from down the street came over, and asked me if i had dropped a turbo in my car.

Red face I Doesn't Help a Lead Foot

I just put the JWT on last week. I've had my Z for 22 months now and have had a problem with my lead foot ever since I got it. I had just about cured my lead foot problem, but it's back again. I blame it on the JWT . . . I may be wrong?

though the thread has drifted a tad off path id like to say that there may be a potential vacuum leak from or the sound deadning may be a result of heatsoak(as i mentioned previously) if you find the sound weakening after several hard runs or a large amount of time after driving the car.......i cant see any other reason why the sound would weaken, i honestly get the same sound within minutes of starting it up to fully heated 30+ minute drives.....just wanted to potentially finalize the concern!

Thanks for the input. I have been monitoring it a little bit closer lately. What I think may be happening is that in a lower gear, let say 2nd it will growl, but in a higher gear, 3rd or 4th, it has less growl in the same RPM range.

So I'm really considering getting this pop charger. I've heard a lot of good things about it. I just cant think of how much of a sound an intake could make.. is it really noticeable? are people still having problems with stalling?

I've had my popcharger for 1k miles as of yesterday (installed at 3593, now exactly 4600) I haven't experienced stalling or ruff ideal.

If you want to hear it, I have a video of a Lemans Sunset Z with a popcharger. In the video you could hear the whistle and roar perfectly. I found the video somewhere online but i dont remember where. Anyone know where this video is hosted?

PM me if you want me to email it to you.

the sound is very noticeable. the suction sound when you mash the throttle, the whistle sound from the base design of the JWT filter adaptor & the roar above 4k when at WOT......priceless!
