I've cleaned my drivers side motor twice and it's worked about a week each time. Maybe it's just too worn out. I'm still wondering are R+L side interchangeable?

now I don't know, Nissan lists them seperately, but autozone doesn't differentiate. There's no reason they couldn't design it to use the same motor, but that doen't mean they did, I'v eonly ever had one side apart, anyone?

Rather than trying to void someone else's warranty why don't you just try the repairs for the motor.

Guys,
I just tried it for the first time. However, i am having problems removing the windows motor switch and mirror controls(step3) cables from the harnesses. Is there a technique to do it? I am afraid of accidentally pulling the cables from the white piece. Thanks.

Use a small screwdriver to push in the tab in the center of the connector. Then simply pull the connector out.

or better yet replace it with a new motor from Autozone. Most people, myself included, that did the "cleaning the brushes" repair have experienced repeated motor failure. It's not hard to replace the motor and it only costs about $120 (after core exchange) for a new motor.

Buy the new motor first so that when you remove the old one you can install the new one. Autozone will refund you the $40 when you take your old motor in.

I know windows are a pain in the butt, and I am going to have to replace mine once again. Good news is, Kragen Autoparts (partsamerica.com) has lifetime warranty, so I'll get a replacement for no extra change from Kragen.

Great thread. I did the clean fix a few weeks ago, but unfortunately crappy motor only lasted a couple of weeks before it died again.

I'm gonna go the autozone route, since these remanufactured versions are apparently meant to rectify all the original design issues and exceed the OEM standard.

Thank you for the photos and directions on this site. It was extremely helpful. I changed out my motor for a total cost of $105.79 after $30.00 core charge return. I would recommend if you are investing the time to open up your door, forget cleaning the motor just swap in a new one and be done with it (temporary fix from what I read). My motor failed around 60,000 Miles...hopefully I am good until 120,000 Miles before repeating. It took me about 2.5 hours start to finish going slow and careful with a few coffee breaks. Here is where I got the part http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/cata...1431958k903854
