Have you tried cleaning the motor brushes? There is a write up towards the beginning of the thread.

I had the same problem... cleaned the motor brushes and haven't had the problem again.

I'm gonna go the autozone route, since these remanufactured versions are apparently meant to rectify all the original design issues and exceed the OEM standard.
So yeah, after cleaning mine, it stopping working again 2 weeks later (this has happened to a lot of people on this thread), I ended up replacing mine with the remanufactured ones that Autozone sells.

Now that I knew how to take apart my door and put it back together (thanks to this thread) it was a lot easier / quicker this time... and now my window works flawlessly.

I had the exact same problem... My window wouldn't roll back up and heard the clicking noise.

This happened about 5-6 months ago and its still working flawlessly.

K cool. Be sure to clean it thoroughly with the q-tips without drowning the motor in alcohol lol.

Like I said, I've done it months ago and its still working perfectly. Good luck dude.

Man, I tried this and end up buying a replacement from Autozone. It didn't work for me. I bought $199.00 and they will give me back the $40.00 for the core.

I just dropped my Roadster off at the dealership, because of leaking around the passenger side window after they reinstalled a new top.

I also have the window going up and then back down using the auto up feature. Did it for a while on the passenger side and now does it on the drivers.

They said I probably need to replace the motors. I am now 4K outside of warranty(only had the car for 2 years though)

I have had the following fixed on my car.

Rear Bearings(both sides) replaced for that gravel sound at 8K
Front Control Arm Replaced at 11K
Tires replaced for feathering issue along with free alignment(of course the problem still isn't fixed)
Window Regulator replaced at 35K
Top Replaced for Common Seam Separation Issue(35K)
CD Player replaced for skipping at 38K(thankfully under warranty - a little grace)
Now Window leaks around new top and wind noise(replaced under warranty)

And now it looks like I haven't escaped the Motor Issue either.

I didn't mind all this crap while they were willing to fix it for free, but $458/motor at the dealership!

I fugure a sports car is like a hot woman - High Maintenance! But dang!

Thanks for the thread guys, if I do end up replacing them, $130 each is a lot better than $450 each!

Okay, I got a call from Autozone today, picked them up afterwork. Install is easy since I've been there. So, long story short, replacement motor works great. LIFETIME WARRANTY, can't beat that. $150 is really pain for a window motor, but at least you know you'll never gonna spend anymore on this. Good luck guys...

That's great news. Thanks for confirming the Lifetime warranty. Yeah $150 to be set for life isn't that bad of a sacrifice for getting to ride this car.

My 2003 was doing this just out of warranty. When I took it in they said they had to reprogram the computer, cost $100 (prob got F'ed but it worked for 30k miles). Now at 60k miles its doing it again. I also hear a nasty rattle coming from the door. Going to open it up tomorrow and see whats going on in there.

Awesome thread guys!!!

Ok I attempted to do this last night in the garage, not a good idea if you dont have adequate light. On the pass side door I wasnt aware you had to take the "oh ****" handle off so I bent a little of the plastic housing, oh well...

I just got finished taking it apart the correct way, so much easier lol. I the first thing I tried was to reset the regulator and low and behold it worked. My auto up works fine and the window no longer comes down 1/3, whew! They charged me 100 bux to hold the reset switch last time, fockers!...

I also had a really bad rattle that I found to be my cross over for my door speaker. The 2 screws holding it to the door were loose, so I tightened those up. I know we all hate any kind of rattle coming from anywhere, so I killed 2 headaches in one shot. Not only that I am now an expert in removing the door panel lol.

I really want to thank everyone that contributed to this thread to help make all our lives easier, educate us and save us some damn money

You got lucky. When I had a door rattle(evertime I closed the door) it was the regulator that needed to be replaced. Fortunately under warranty. Funny thing is both my windows are acting up(going 1/3 way down) just outside of warranty. When it gets bad enough I will replace the motors on my own and save the cash and end up with better motors.
