Tire FEATHERING: FYI

It is pathetic customer satisfaction! I guarantee that it will cost them in sales in the long run!
I will never, ever buy, lease or drive another Nissan product in my life.
People always come up to me and ask me about my Z. I always, always, always tell them that I am on my 4th set of front tires in 20k miles.
It is a nice car, but thank GOD my other car is a Toyota! NNA could learn something from Toyota if they would open their eyes!!!

I have a 2004 Enthusiast (auto). I'm having the same feathering problem everyone else is having, including the brickwall at Nissan. My dealer says that something is on the way, but can't say when. I have 13,000 on the back tires and only 7,000 on the front. The car had new tires on the front when I bought (used) it from my local Nissan dealer. I've been looking at the posts on this website at the suggestion of my dealer's Service Manager. I read a post that after buying a different tire the problem did not come back. However, the post did not identify the brand. Anyone out there know the answer to this question?

Depending on the tread design, other tires have been found to help (but not cure) feathering. Feathering is resulting from the suspension alignment. The final terminating fix is still TBD. Personally, the F1 Eagle design has staved off feathering on my beast, but I am due for another realignment to fix feathering at 51K.

I had the feathering for 36k miles. That's when I got my last free set of RE040s on the front, aligned by my OEM. The OEM alignment revealed very little adjustment was needed. I immediately took to an independent shop for an alignment check. The OEM alignment was way off. The independent re-aligned. At 15k miles later, no feathering, no noise. While there are much better choices for tires, I believe the RE040s have a very small role in this feathering problem.
im thinking of purchasing a 350z really soon, but do u guys think just because of the feathering problem its not worth getting, and does anyone know when a fix will be announced for it or if they are fixing the problems on new 2005's?
thanks
thanks

I have 12000 miles on my '04 Enthusiast 6MT and I am also experiencing front tire noise and non-uniform wear. I took the car to the local dealership this morning and they checked the tires and confirmed that my vehicle is exhibiting the symptoms described in the TSB. Unfortunately, the TSB only covers 2003 vehicles. The Service Advisor said the tires are worn enough that they should be replaced, and that he was waiting to hear back from Nissan regarding how to proceed. He said he thought that the tires would be replaced and a realignment to the new specs in the TSB would be performed under warranty. I did not hear back from him this afternoon. I'm going to give them every opportunity to do the right thing.
