Default Question on car batteries

Well I stored my car for about a month and just today when I tried to start it for the first time in a month, I realized the battery was dead. Is it normal for the battery to be drained after a month? Should I get a new battery? My car is a 2003 model and it has about 22000 miles. I don't think the battery was replaced before. Thanks

A car battery dieing after not being used for a month is normal. Charge it up/jump it, drive it around, if it doesn’t hold a charge then get a new battery.

Thanks for the advice. For some reason, my girlfriend always stores her lexus for 2-3 months and her battery never dies

The Z seems to have a pretty high drain on the battery when it's not being run. We've seen posts here from guys that had it go dead after just two weeks. Keep in mind that your OEM battery is more than 3 years old so it's probably past it's usefull life anyway.

so are you saying I should get a new battery? I don't get it, what makes the battery drain so fast?

Get a new battery. My 03's OEM battery lasted only 18k miles before failing to hold it's charge. I thought it might be stereo causing the drain but it was just a crappy battery.

There's nothing worse than pulling up to a convenience store late at night in your hot sportscar, buying snacks, and returning to a dead car and having to ask a handicapped elderly woman for a jump. <-- happened to me.

The next day....Sears Die-Hard FTW.

Take it to an Autozone and have them load test it. That will tell you weather it's good or not. If you drive it infrequently, then a new battery may be the way to go.

Autozone sells the Duralast batteries, highest rated by Consumer Reports.
