Rattling Noise Inside Trunk Hatch!!?!?
I have found that the inside hatch cover is the culprit of my rear hatch squeak after I had already replaced what I thought was a faulty hatch strut, you can gently push on the cover to confirm.
It will sound like a high-pitched squeak and will only go away once you remove the hatch cover and place a few strips of double-sided tape over some of the inside clips.

obv rattle is from suspension. mine rattled some much i got fed up and finally bought a new strut. it sure did fix the problem and was only 45 new with shipping. if u want to get rid of the rattle noise change the strut and your problem will be solved
The first thing I did was take out both rear suspension shocks and drive around the neighborhood (you can but dont go fast, its crazy bouncy without shocks). As soon as I took them off the crazy rattle was gone. This is a pretty simple thing to test and was exactly what was my problem too.
In my experience the ratlibg of the rear hatch is due to a bent or missaligned hatch pop up springs. When the get bent, they springs dont hit the circle in the cars body due to which the hatsh is not correctly sustained. Thus the rsttle.
The solution I have found is to rotate the spring so that it sits correctly in the circular base when the hatch is closed.

It's hilarious how old this issue is yet no solution. I also get thr rattle and it feels like it's coming from trunk area behind passenger seat.
What I did notice recently is that it's worst when car is cold (i.e morning) but as I use it and as day warms up and it sits in sun a bit, it mostly goes away.
It's driving me nuts. I adjust something during day and it seems gone but next morning when car is cold it comes back.
