Sputtering During Warm-up
Same exact problem, and I was the one that started this thread. I have 55k bought on the car and it was purchased in early 07. Does it everyday. I actually start my day with 20-30 min cruise at 2.5k every morning... (commute)

I'd light my car on fire if it made me wake up 30 minutes earlier everyday
Its when its out of that routine that you get reminded...
our drivetrain warranty goes to 60k, this is the drivetrain. you should take it to the dealer. they shouldn't have any problems reproducing it since it happens every cold start. although you may have to leave it there overnight...
...............
hmm, havent noticed this problem in my 08, but after seeing the vid at least I know what to look for.
For the record, I dont think it's possible to fit the MAF sensors backwards, I've tried the screws don't line up.
I'm running ingen longtubes, HFC, bassani dualies, and an uprev tune.
Ive run Mobil1 15-30, 0-30, Castrol euro 0-40.
Put everything from Arco 87 to Chevron 91

Just wanted to let you guys know I just started getting this. 2007 auto with 36k on the clock. I let it warm up for about 2 or 3 minutes, then by the time i get to the first stoplight out of my community (usually the first stop, takes about a minute and a half to two minutes) it surges right at 1800 RPMS and then it does it at the next light about 30 seconds away. Then i get down to the third light which is about a two minute drive and it's gone by then. Just started getting colder here, and I originally thought it was the tranny, but definitely not anymore. Glad I found out it's not just me... but it is slightly annoying. Does it whenever there's a full cold start. I'll try the holding the RPMS in neutral next time, very curious now.
I tried it this morning and there was definitely something funny when it his the 1750 RPM line, it would hold for a second or two, drop down, then go back up. I found thought that my takeoff glitch isn't really caused by that though, although it's extremely similar. When I take off in the morning it's rarely over 1400 RPMS just because I'm easy on it. The sharp stab at the throttle is more to blame for me I think, although I do completely notice the glitch at around 1700 RPMS. I'll data log it and see. What sensors should i include to get a good feeling for it? TPS, MAF, RPMS, and...? load? I dunno. This is weird

After the initial bounce around 1700, if you are just parked and you tap your throttle, and pay attention closely, you will see and feel the pulse down low at 1100 also. Don't necessarily have to be driving.
I'm willing to bet your take off glitch is the aftermath of the initial sputter. I noticed that after it bounces around 1700 RPM, at around 1100-1200 with every gear change it will glitch once. If you feather the clutch you can feel and hear the engine pulse.

We'll see, if not then oh well, it is what it is. Powertrain warranty ftw.
*Sputtering ONLY at idle (whether at first startup, during warmup, after warmup, cold startup, no-cold startup, etc.)
*No sputtering during driving
*2003 Manual Enthusiast w/ AEM Intake
*93 Exxon gas w/ 5W30 Mobile Extended Performance
-I highly doubt that it is an oil issue...My thing is it feels like there is an ARC in the Spark Plug Wires if the car had them...I cleaned the Throttle Body one time and it helped and started coming back slowly...I've changed fuel to Chevron once and didn't do a thing

I'm aware that this is a revival, but I may be in a position to help. My 07 has 26000 miles and has had the original problem (stuttering between 1700 and 2200 RPM with light, even throttle input when the vehicle is cold) for probably the last 9k miles.
I am currently sitting in the service department of Performance Nissan, and I successfully replicated the issue for the tech this morning. I have had the vehicle in 3 times for this problem, and what I did this morning was make an appt for 7am, show up at 5:30am and pop the hood to let the vehicle cool off.
For those with the problem, this was an effective method of replicating it.
I will post here when I get more information. Hopefully we can get some resolution after all.

i think this thread is old but since this is a big issue, i'll revive this thread lol
If the throttle body or throttle position sensor is the problem then can't you either just replace those with OEM parts or get aftermarket intake?

Holy thread revival batman!
The throttle components haven't been confirmed as the problem so that's why we can't just swap them. Plus, for those of us that are under warranty and have taken it to a dealer the same response is inevitable: "You just don't know how to shift/clutch/drive." >_>
