Default Strange Vibration

For the last few days, I have noticed that whenever i start up the car for the first time, put it in first, and drive away, i hear this strange vibration coming from the right front wheel area when ive just let up on the clutch and am going maybe 3 miles per hour...it sounds like im going over a metal gate and it lasts for maybe two seconds and then it goes away, but the sound is just coming from the right front wheel area. I can't seem to repilcate the problem by stopping and moving again...ive only noticed it the first time I move after I start up the car. 2006 z no wheel/suspension mods.

What do youthink this is?

-thanks!

The ABS will do a self-test once you start rolling past a couple of miles an hour. It should do it every time you start the car. However, it doesn't sound like that at all.

The sound you're describing does sound like the ABS system in action but it's definitely not normal.

ABS for sure.

did you feel anything in the pedal when it does it? How about any lights on the dash? Double check your brake fluid too. I would get this professionally checked out, it could be hazardous.

i guess i really wasn't paying attention to the pedal when I heard the sound. As for the lights on the dash, I'm pretty sure there weren't any but ill double check all of this stuff and the brake fluid when I take out the car again. Ill update shortly... thanks!

I just checked my brake fluids and they are normal (just a tad bit below the Full line). Everytime I start the car and drive away the first time it makes the strange vibration. If its the abs what exactly would be the problem with it?

If it does it every time and isn't an intermittent problem, take it to the dealer. Don't waste your time trying to solve an issue that's not common.

dealer said the sound is normal from the abs system...

the tech said that the 06+ abs system is more advanced than the previous years?

I personally dont think it should make an audible sound...any 06+ owners hear this sound?

The ABS test is definitely loud enough to hear and strong enough to feel in the pedal. It may seem to be intermittent or random because you don't always notice it, I only notice it 50% of the time in the early morning. It depends on how long you let the car sit and idle, if and when you tap the brake, how fast you're moving, etc.

I can hear and feel my ABS test in the morning, but it doesn't feel like I'm going over a sewer grate. From what you described it sounded more than your average ABS test.

However on startup it does it every time as you start moving, so having the ABS come on is completely normal.

I have the same problem with my 07. The dealer couldn't diagnose the problem so they called the Nissan Tech line who said it was the ABS “resetting” and was normal. I questioned this because the noise didn't start when I first bought the car. I probably started hearing it after 6 or 8 months. It happens whenever the car has been parked for 10 minutes or more. Have you been hearing it since day one?
