OEM battery lasts forever.
I abused mine with over 1000w in audio and it lasted 3.5 years, 110F texas summers and -20F degree winters, stout battery for sure, though my optima yellow top is so much better!
How much "better" can a battery be? If it starts the car, and the car operates with no problems, then what difference does it make whether it is an Optima or an AutoZone special? I have seen Optimas die within 3 years and the cheapos last for 5, on cars with no extra power demands. My OEM lasted 5 years, replaced it for $100. If this one lasts 4, then it is $25 a year, or half a tank of gas.
stopped by autozone get some stuff and thought what the heck . . lets get battery checked . . . and my battery failed the test . . CCA were 220 . . . i guess i never added water to it and maybe its running dry . . . but i just runs fine . . im in FL btw

Battery may start the car until cold weather. Temperature falls below freezing. Oil is like molasses. This demands a good battery.
My OEM battery just died this weekend in my 06 350z 6MT stock ~53 months (350z has lived in Washington, Texas and now Louisiana - the South for most of its life). Tried to get a new pro-rated battery at dealer (25% off retail) and they insisted to have the car towed there when I physically had the battery with me. Hate dealers!! Went to Autozone and got Duralast Gold. Still won't start

**** dude my 2003 still has it's factory battery, and it is just now starting to die. It was totally fine until the car was parked for about 6 months for turbo install and other work. It still starts the car and works but if i leave the car for 4-5 days without starting it, it will hesitate pretty bad. I'll be replacing it very soon.
Kinda bummed.. Mine only lasted about 6 1/2 years 54k miles. Used the battery tender on it during the winter and everything. I wanted to cross the 7 yr mark.
I went with the AutoZone Duralast Gold. Didn't seem worth it to spend another $100 on an Optima that was 3 lbs lighter.

I responded to the original post in 2008, #30. I now have 38K miles and 9 years and 3 months on original battery. Amazing battery life.

Well after 7 yrs, 30k miles, mine finally died. Went on a 2 wk trip and came back to a completely drained battery. Wouldn't even hold charge. Didn't show any signs beforehand though.
Guess I should still be happy that I got 7 yrs out of it since I rarely drive it. Replaced with duralast gold, no need for fancy optima for me

I got the car last year ('04 model) and the previous owner had replaced the battery with some random les schwab (i think) battery.
I already think i might be suffering from load problems, can autozone load test it whilst still on the car?
Price from Nissan for a sealed maintenance free battery is $115 including a core return.
