OEM battery lasts forever.
The battery in my '08 just died yesterday at 50K miles, after gradually cranking the starter slower and slower - really so gradual it was hard to notice. Stopped for gas, and then just a click of the starter with no cranking. Got a new EverStart Maxx-35S at Walmart for $99 and this thing cranks like a jet engine now. I don't think it started this quickly even when the car was brand new. 640 CCA, 3-year free replacement (then pro-rated to 72 months), a perfect fit, and the change took maybe 20 minutes. I've been using these Walmart batteries for at least 15 years, and never had a bad one.
I looked at the Optima Yellow, but it was $50 more (shipped free from Amazon), it was only 10 CCA higher and had a much shorter 2-year warranty. Also didn't seem like a 3-pound weight savings was worth the extra $.

^ImO, people buy those Optima batteries for the wrong reasons. I thought that their whole schtick was that they are deep cycle, similar to marine batteries. This makes sense for people who will be nearly completely discharging their batteries many, many times through their use.
In other words, people who go camping, shut their car off and power a bunch of items off their car. Or, car stereo people who play their pair of 15's for an hour out of their parked, shut-off car.
Regular lead/acid batteries are not designed to be repeatedly discharged. They take a hit on start-up and then the alternator keeps them topped up virtually their entire life.

I agree, and actually the Optima for "starting" is their red top. Still, I think they're overpriced/have a short warranty and it's easy to find lots of early failure info with a quick Google search.
Everyone in this thread is very lucky. My '06 is on it's fifth battery. An OEM (1yr) , two walmarts (almost 2yr each), and now the second Bosch Premium was put in this morning - fiirst one lasted almost 3years.
I have a 03 with 100k on it and I just replaced the oem battery this year, only because the trunk was left slightly open which caused the light to stay on and drain the battery, I was so amazed how long that oem lasts

Has anyone gone back to the dealer to see if they could get an OEM battery to replace the original? I know the battery will die sometime and would like to get the same to replace it. Is there a specific part number for the battery? I haven't started looking yet as I think I still have another year on this one. Do the 370s have the same make/model battery?
I finally replaced my original battery last month. I have had the car since January of 2003, so not bad for an OEM battery. It still would start the car, but wouldn't hold a charge if I went a week without starting the car unless I kept it on the trickle charger.

OEM battery died today after 123 months and mileage at 40149. I purchased the replacement at a Nissan dealer. $96 for 84 month battery. I was concerned with the battery height as most group 35 batteries are almost 9" tall. This one matched the OE dimensions.

I replaced my OEM battery with a replacement 84 month battery from my Nissan dealer too. I'll be happy if it lasts half as long as the original battery did since it lasted for 10 years. LOL!
My original 350z battery was on the verge of dying today, with 6 years and 33,000 miles on it. I went to the Nissan dealership and the current Nissan-supplied replacement battery is a Interstate-manufactured (don't think its branded that way) unit and Nissan now supplies a 7 year warranty on it. Only cost $129 including installation. Car cranks right up now!
Well, mine is a 2005 with 38,400 miles. I bought it only a few months old in Dec of 2006 with only 4,200 miles and, the OEM battery.
I was a "garage queen" from Dec 2006 until January of 2013. Then, it started duty as a daily driver. 60 miles rt commute!
The battery used to run down in the garage if we didn't drive for several weeks. But, a 2 amp charger overnight seemed to get it right back on track.
The battery is OEM. Until yesterday. While cleaning it, I left the doors and trunk open for two hours and it failed to start without jumping.
I put it on the charger overnight. But, when I went to leave work tonight, it told me that the battery is done for. I had to "borrow" our agency booster.
The battery still shows 12.6V and the alternator keeps the system at a perfect 14.5V when running. But, the battery has no reserve anymore. I can't rely on it to start after a few hours of non-operation.
It amazes me that I got almost ten years out of that thing!. If I could get the OEM rather than the dealer's equivalence to replace it, I'd gladly pay the dealer rates.
But alas, thanks to this forum, I realize there is no way I can get OEM. So, tomorrow, at lunch, I'm off to Wally world or Autozone for a replacement. After some research I've decided to go with an Everstart or Duralast. No, they aren't great. But, they are a great value @ $100 or so. Nothing quite as bad as paying premium $$$ for something (Optima - but on other cars) only to have it work no better than a cheaper alternative. BTDT. Too many times.
This only partially makes up for having to spend $1,700 on a clutch replacement at 22,000 miles though. I'm not fond of Nissan after that little fiasco and having Nissan take absolutely no responsibility. Even after I took it to the dealer while it was still under the 4 year maint agreement and told them there was a problem with the clutch. Their response was, "can't duplicate problem". Which made me feel like it was me. Until the clutch was toast at 22,500 miles. It wasn't me!
