step 1 - put a piece of black electrical tape over airbag light (prevent epilepsy)

step 2 - wait til a car wreck

>>> step 3 - if car wreck and airbag does not deploy - sue crap out of nissan (gets nismo 350)

>>> step 3 - if car wreck and airbag does deploy - you are safe; if your fault(pay up), if other persons fault (they pay up), if no fault (that sucks)

...and you might have to do it a couple of times. But if it keeps coming back after the resets, then you will have to take it in for repair, or learn to live with it (and take the chance that one or more airbags will not go off when you need them).

I have an 06 with 50k no accidents and I am having the same issue with my air bag light flashing. I took it to a guy that i know has a computer reader and he said it was something with the passenger side air bag module?(something to do with a short?) So no recall for 2006? Any recommendations?

I had my airbag module replaced under warranty when it started flashing. About a year later it started doing it again so I tried the procedure above. It worked like a charm.
Mine stopped flashing now! Thanks JMT!!

Default WOW!

My z is at the shop for this very reason. I have an extended warranty, so I didn't ask too many questions. From what I know they had to order a part for the seat, but when they ordered it and installed it, it still didn't work. Right now theyre ordering another part for Monday. I hope they just give me a whole new seat or somethin.

They tried to reset the code and couldn't because the module is shorted. Resetting wouldn't solve anything. Also, with the passenger side module out the air bags for that side are not functional...i think i might be screwed on this one and might just have to suck it up. :-(

Default Same problem here but corrected it myself :)

I was told that the airbag light can flash on occasion if mods are done on the car or if you change / disconnect the battery. Well, who didn't? Mine happened at 28K miles. So, I doubt it was a mechanical issue and more a computer problem. The first thing to do is to reset the airbag indicator light.

For the Airbag Reseting procedure, you should first change the SRS system to self-diagnosis mode, and then back to regular mode to clear the airbag fault you might be getting. The procedure is very easy.

How to Change to Self-Diagnosis Mode:
1. Turn Ignition switch from OFF to ON position.
2. Watch the airbag light to come on (and start blinking). Immediately turn the ignition switch to the OFF (ACC) position) and count for 5 seconds.
3. Repeat the steps (1-2) two more times. (This sets the system to Diagnostic Mode)
4. Turn ignition switch ON again. You should now notice the airbag light blink at a much slower pace - i.e. a few secs off and then on... (If you don't see this, repeat the process again until you are in the Diagnostics mode or have someone else try this).
5. Once it is in the diagnostic mode, you can leave it in this mode as long as you need. Count for at least 5 seconds and turn off the ignition switch again. (In this mode, the computer checks for any internal faults and resets the airbag indicator light if there is no mechanical problems.)
6. After ignition switch is turned OFF, wait for more than 5 seconds.
7. Turn ignition switch ON again (This returns the system to User Mode)

Your Airbag light should no longer flash.

I am having this same problem. Just started today after 5 years of ownership. Will try the procedure to see if it turns off.

Okay...doesn't work. I replace my seats with spacos racing seats and Airbag light flashes. I tried the procedure, it dosen't work. After 7 seconds, it blinks but never stops blinking no matter what I do. I have an 03 Touring model with, seatbags and sidecurtain bags. I tried the version above and the one below.

I guess I'll try this now. the procedure is the same but I guess I'll have resort the the rest of it since it didn't work for me.

Angry

Ive been having an airbag light nightmare also. after a few months of having my z it started blinking. after i couldnt take it any longer, i took it to a dealer. they tested everything and did the reset precedure and nothing happened. so, after 3 days they figured it was the passenger air bag module, and gave me a quote for 650 installed. i was hesitant, but the dude said that since this module wasnt working, none of the airbags would deploy.

so, a few days later, its finally done (it was there for 8 days total). but the price is $990. wtf???????? they quoted me for the driver side, and order the wrong part from nissan twice. soo, i paid the Sh*t and called nissan and bitched.

then, 2 weeks later the light comes back on and i take it back. the tech showed me the print-out saying that all of the sensors are working properly. so, they do the reset precedure and it works. so i thought.

now 2 weeks later (today) light is blinking again.

okay did the resistors, 2.2 1/4 watt on both sides. Tryd the reset procedure. Nothing. Disconnected the Battery, nothing. Light comes on stays on 7 seconds then blinks but dosen't ever go out until I actually turn the car off. WTF!!
