Are you disconnecting the battery for a couple of days prior to trying these procedures?
When I disconnect the battery for a couple of days it works. When I don't disconnect the battery it doesn't work. I assume the computer must be reset. Is this correct?

No, I am not disconnecting the battery.

I would think the dealer reset is the end-all best reset. If it comes back
after they reset it...surely it has to be a true fault. In my case, the word
"Past" with the code is what gives me pause at just replacing parts.

EDIT:

I just now redid the reset, the light went out.
I then disconnected the battery. I will leave it disconnected for what...48 hours??

How to Change to Self-Diagnosis Mode:
1. Turn Ignition switch from OFF to ON.
2. Within 1 second after air bag warning lamp is on for 7 seconds and turns off, turn OFF ignition switch
3. After ignition switch is turned off, wait for more than 3 seconds.
4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 twice. (perform 3 times in total)
5. Turn ignition switch ON again (turn to Diagnosis Mode.)

Your Airbag light should no longer flash while driving…
It has been suggested this should be done in conjunction with disconnecting the battery, which I have done but my question is for how long should the battery be disconnected?

Just FYI - After 6 years of swapping airbags, control units and wiring harnesses on my 05 ZR, a Nissan engineer said there was a resistance problem in a wire.

The dealer service team pulled the wire and rerouted directly from the airbag to the control unit.

Too soon to know for sure because that was done in January and the light came back on a few months after every prior repair attempt ... but ... the light has stayed off since then.

Well I reconnected the battery after 48 hours, then drove for 22 miles and
so far, no light. I'll call the PA dealer to see if they think it wise to have them check it, given the light is out. In all honestly, I expected it to come right back on.
I will drive it around again tomorrow, to see if it comes on...I almost wish it would so I could have it checked for a definitive diagnosis.

A+++++ for this. Worked for me. Would do business again.

I did it it just now without disconnecting the battery. It worked. Failed on the door open method.

Default SRS Light blinks

Bought an '04 350Z with 25K miles in Jan 13. The SRS light started blinking last Thursday night (10Oct13). I have done the light dance suggested here and it worked for a couple of days. Today, 13Oct13 it began blinking again. I am wondering if there is a built-in timer that says 10 years after manufacture the light comes on so you have to take it to a dealer to have it checked. I looked at the manufacture plate and it has 10/03 written which is why I've come up with this theory. Does anyone know? Thanks!

Default Thanks

Tried this a few times and it didn't work. Tried it with the door open method and did it the suggested four times instead of three and it has gone off.

Fingers crossed it'll last for a while rather than coming straight back on. - Just need to sort the tire pressure warning light now and it wont feel like I'm driving a Christmas tree anymore

Thanks

Here's the TSB for the G35:

I'm gonna try this procedure when the weather's warmer to see if it gets rid of the intermittent issue that's throwing the SRS light on my son's 350Z.

Important note - that did not permanently solve the problem. A few months after that, it happened again. A Nissan engineer visited my dealer examined my car, and determined there was a resistance problem in the way the wiring had been routed. They reran an airbag wire directly and that DID fix the 5-year-intermittent-airbag-light problem permanently.

I love this place, and here I was thinking it was time for racing seats and a nice steering wheel.

I dont know what I just did but it's off... We will see how long it lasts.

A VERY VERY small change in the external resistance of any of the components in the SRS..Will cause a light .....The clock spring seems to be #1 in failure as far as resistance changes...
