Default My 350 is screeching when i start it up, and this only happens during the cold season

Does anyone else experience this too?

I am triyng to figure out what it is and how to get rid of it. It is really annoying. It happens right at startup and then after I come to a stop and start driving again. Also happens while turning sometimes.

I've read somewhere that this could be the belts being loose. Is this true?

Thanks in advance.

what DB said. your belts could simply just be wet.. or they could be loose.

Spray some WD-40 on them - if the problem goes away temporarily, that's your answer.

Just change them both at the same time. It's cheap and easy.

Don't pay anyone to tighten your belts. That's ridiculous. My girlfriend can tighten belts. If i showed her how.

Go pick up a repair manual from your nearest pep boys, borrow some tools from a friend. Would take an unexperienced person no more than an hour.

And you can say you did it yourself!

ps: I don't recommend spraying wd-40 either. lol

Less than 10 posts and I already get to be helpful....woohoo!!

Here's a great thread that details, among other things, how to reset the windows:

It's the alternator belt. Look at ur voltage gauge. I garantee that it drops to 12 while screeching. Tighten it up and you should be good to go.
