Angry AC Major Malfunction

Hey everyone! New to the site, bought my first 350z (2003)...
Anyways, I turn on the car today and as I am pulling out of my driveway all of a sudden my AC starts blowing EXTREMELY hard on cold, so I look down to see if I had some how bumped the dial etc... and I see it is on AUTO, so I go ahead and turn the dial to the OFF position. Well, nothing happens and the AC is still blowing extremely hard, I then proceed to turn dials and push buttons until finally I turn the dial to heat and it slows the AC down and blows cold still...? What the heck is wrong with my z?

take off your shifter piece and unplug the AC harness, see if it resets

Got in the car, turned it on and no AC problems all of a sudden.. it happened twice to me and now nothing? If it happens again I will definitly try out what you said. Thanks alot Ronin

it takes like a few seconds to unclip the connector, literally. at least for manual. just pull your shift bezel out and boom!

when the harness is unplugged, the AC will automatically come on full force, so you might have bumped it and loosened the connection

Does your car have an aftermarket stereo? You have to unclip the HVAC controls to get there. My guess is the person who owned it before you messed around with it and didn't seat the connector correctly, or they nicked it and there's an intermittent short.

Yes it does, bmyles. The guy I bought it from, for some reason, thought it was necessary to put 4 10in. Alpines in the car , so I'm sure he didn't hook something up exactly right. So onces I pop the bezel ring off and pull that leather covering up, what exactly am I looking for?

Not to sound helpless, but do you know if there are any pictures of what it looks like so I am not just pulling things out?

Also once I find the white ribbon strip that you stated, do I just unplug it and then secure it back in place?

should be the only ribbon running towards the climate control. its very thin and probably 1.25 inches thick.

unplug it for a little bit and put it back in. i tend to think unplugging electrical components for 10 seconds plus resets it. who knows.
