Default Whistling noise, sounds like winding up in a way

A few weeks after I bought the car I noticed the 3rd gear synchros was going out, it grinds going into and leaving 3rd gear when the car is warming up. But once it's running for a while that problem disappears so it doesn't bug me much.
But as of last week it started making this whistling noise, like something is winding up as I'm speeding up. It stops 4-6 gear but 1-3 is always winding. I heard it could be the pilot bushing and the throwout bearing?

Should I just continue driving it till the entire tranny gives out? Replace the tranny now to avoid anything major or is there a quick fix I can do?

Any help would be appreciated =)

check your fluid level. normaly when it is low on fluid it whines. if the bearings were starved from fluid they will whine and thats a major problem (tranny rebuild time). so add fluid if needed and if it persists you'll have to rebuild or replace the tranny.

I'll check the fluid in a bit, I'll let you know how it is.

What would be better either way, a tranny rebuild or just buying a CD009?

Sounds similar to mine, I'm hoping its the tranny fluid. I'll change the fluid over the weekend and let you know how it works.

What's the best type of fluid to use?

mine has done this since I've had it (only about a year). Replaced fluid and replaced my clutch about 500 miles ago with a new TO bearing and all and still makes the noise.

I haven't noticed any trouble getting into gear or any grinding though

I don't know if you're asking myself or OP but I do not. I have an intake but this is definitely a different sound. My sound is definitely a mechanical sound, like it's winding. And mines a CD009 as well.

When I changed my clutch the fluid looked good and we changed the fluid out and put the recommended amount in it.

turn the car on while on a lift or jackstands, is it louder near the oil pan? if so, change oil.

The only time I experienced something like this was with my EVO 9 when the transfer case went bad. The whining/whistling noise grew louder through gears. So maybe somethings wrong with the drivetrain?

Only difference I see is the whistling starts off loud on my car and gets quieter and almost completely disappears higher speeds

Turns out it is something to do with my radio. My friend noticed the whistling, turned my radio off to hear it clearer and the noise stopped. Great, now I have to figure which wires are crossing.

That sounds like an amp ground issue.
