Default Rare door handle question

My drivers side door would not open from the outside door handle, but i could use my key fob to put the windows down and open the door from the inside.

I bought a new door handle for the outside and installed it, but what i am experiencing now seems a little funky.

I can open the door from the outside with the new handle now..but i have to yank pretty hard while im using the door handle to get the sucker to open up.

There definitley feels like there is something binding/hindering/getting in the way as i open the new door handle.

All the rods seemed to be in place correctly.

I was just curious if anyone had any suggestions.

Thanks.

It sounds like the inner door latch is binding in a big way. I'd disassemble the door again and take a close look at the mechanism. Nissan generally engineers precision stuff and it never binds unless damaged or misassembled.

I double checked everything after this was happening. Everything looked good, I reassembled the handle... I had even taken the interior door handle off and inspected the cables from the locking mechanism as well as the interior handle and all of that worked fine..

The outside handle just will not release the door latch unless I basically give it a good tug, however the inside handle releases the door latch without issue.

When my outside door handle was in the process of breaking I had to pull on it harder/quicker to get it to release before it finally broke completely.

That means either that handle is broken too or something is bent/ inproperly installed.

Well..fixed.

Props to you sir.. I kind of omitted the fact that I once had attempted to slim Jim the door open because I locked my keys in my car.

Anyway I knew the rod that seats in the blue "funnel" was slightly bent, however it didn't seem like an issue because the door worked smoothly a few times and then quit on me again.

Long story short I checked out some images of a new rod vs mine and the difference was more than I thought. I bent that sucker back into its correct shape, reinstalled everything, and WALA! Perfect. The rod is now set back into the latch mechanism perfectly, the handle/lock/latch are all smooth as silk and in proper working order.

Thanks again! ...that slight bend from the slim Jim really threw everything out of whack.

Glad you got it working. At least it was a cheap/easy fix.

My 2 cents. Great information and I was able to find the GTR part on ebay, took 5 weeks to get here from Japan.

It's not an exact fit as the original has female threads for bolts and this part has male studs which did not come with the part. Had to go to Home Depot and get 4 6mm nuts.

On the driver side I took the panel off because I also changed the motor. After taking the speaker out you can easily get to the hinge,

On the passenger side I decided to try to get through the speaker which is more difficult, without taking off the panel I ended up having to release the panel near the speaker to get to the 3rd bolt holding the speaker in. Once you take the speaker out then the hinge is easy to get to and replace.
