Default Noise coming from rear when abruptly accelerating in high gear

Hey guys

So today when I was driving and going about 60 in 6th (also noticed in 5th) and I punch gas pedal sharply and feel car jerk forward (but obviously not speeding up quickly since its in 6th gear) there is this thump coming from rear (sounds like from diff). If I don't punch gas pedal abruptly, just push it down it doesn't do it. Also doesn't do it under shifts or hard acceleration in 1st 2nd or 3rd. Any ideas?
Its 2008 80k

Also its not the clicking sound that is a common issue its more of a loud thump as the drivetrain is twisting from the load of being in low RPM and high gear. I know its not a good idea to be doing this (makes no sense to floor it abruptly in 6th going 60 mph) and I never did it before just happened to today and noticed it .

Have you jacked up the car (supported with jack stands) and checked the driveline? It could be worn diff bearings or loose driveshaft fasteners. Or a thousand other things a physical check will turn up. Let us know what YOU find...

Will get it on a lift this weekend hopefully, but I have been reading the rear bushing thread and thinking of getting the rear diff brace, since I'm only getting that sound in this scenario alleviating some pressure off the diff mounts might help ?

If the diff bearing is worn, a brace will only make the clunking worse. Do the assessment first, before deciding what needs to be replaced.

Whats the best way to see if diff bearing is worn (obviously if I'm not seeing any leaks)

Thanks

You won't see any leaks, either. The side bushings are rubber and you may need to pull one of the bolts to inspect it. The rear bushing should be visible from the rear subframe and you may be able to move it slightly with your arms on a lift. Check to see if any of the driveline bolts are loose while you're in there,
