Humming/whining noise coming from 07hr engine? Are my tensioner guides worn out?
Hey guys,
So I've owned my 07 hr grand touring for about 2.5-3 years now. Hasn't giving me any major issues besides replacing the throwout bearing. I've got a jwt clutch and flywheel, catback exhaust and drilled and slotted rotors and tein springs no heavy mods.
Last weekend I took the car on some heavy high way runs while on a Cars&Coffee cruise and was pushing the car pretty high speeds.
The day after I turned the car on and notice this humming/whining sound coming from the front end of the car. I popped the hood to narrow down the location and heard it coming from the engine. The sound grew with the motor when I revved. So I looked up what could be the problem and some people said change the oil first.
The car had about 25-2700 miles since my last oil change but the oil was pretty dark. I daily drive the drift the car so the car definitely gets put to use. I changed the oil and filter and the sound still remained.
I looked up on NICO and someone by the name of SpecDRacing said it could be the plastic guides for the secondary timing chain tensioners. That it could be possible that they are now worn out and the chain is just rubbing on the tensioner piston. This is all caused by a bad alternator clutch.
Is this the issue I am looking at fixing or is it something else. I'm guessing I should go easy the car Any help is appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Sorry, but the HR engine hasn't been known to consistently be prone to worn plastic guides with the chain tensioners. The "humming/whinning" sound from your engine is best diagnosed by a skilled tech who can actually listen and check your car, rather than any of us from behind a keyboard...
