performance nissan sells a higher strength strut for 350Z hatches. For vehicles with added wings.

I've just try it.. 4 Pennies, 2 on each side..

Is the rear hatch suppose to open all the way to the top?

Or does this just help the trunk pop open 1/2 inch when trying to open?

Been to the dealership twice for this, and I didn't know there was a tsb out (and they didn't bother to check!)... they claimed it was fixed both times, still acted the same to me... about 20% of the time it opens all the way, 80% it gets stuck and requires 2 or 3 more button pushes to pop it open... I will try the $0.04 trick, and avoid another day at the dealership... thanks guys.

the sad part is that the dealer should fix this no questions asked. we shouldn't have to put pennies into our 350z.

Same here. Twice I've had my car there and had them look at this while they were at it. It still works the same as yours.

They claim that it opens perfectly for them every time they try it. Yeah right.

I'm going with 6 dimes for the $0.60 cent bling job.

When I first saw this thread, i was happy to find solstice in such a novel deduction.

I proceeded to place 4 pennies in their respective positions amoung my hatch springs, and indeed; success.

I drank a Guiness, and exclaimed: 'BRILLIANT!'

I recently added a Nismo spoiler. The 4 pence I added was not enough to lift the hatch, so again, I added 4 more pence and indeed; success.

Again, I drank a Guiness, and exclamied; 'BRILLIANT!'

I just tried my 6 cents and they worked just fine. I wanted to fix this 3 years ago, But, I have not had the chance to go to the dealer to fix it. My 3 year warranty will expire at the end of this month. I tried this trick today so I don't have to go to dealer and deal with their CRAP about this issue.

This my 6 cents.

Thanks everyone for your help with this problem.

^^ 3 pennies on both sides may be too much pressure and may dent your latch so check it to make sure....
