Oil Filter - Which one do you use? Recommend?
Do you guys/gals use the 350Z oil filter or the Maxima oil filter?
350Z - 1520865F00
Maxima - 152089E000
The parts guy told me to use the Maxima filter as it is larger than the 350Z one.
Any thoughts??

goto mynismo.com and look up oil filters. Both are suppose to fit. The older style filter looks larger, but i am not sure if it has more filter media.

I use the M1-105 as well (it's a BIG filter, but fits perfectly. I actually have a bunch of them that I can send for less than what you'd pay in the store. If you're interested PM me.

Surf the web some and you'll find that the Purolators are among the best. Frams are crap. They used to be good, but aren't any more. If you don't believe anyone, do your own test. Buy some filters and use a hacksaw or can opener to open them up (carefully) then compare the size of the filtering medium and construction.
I'll recommend the Purolator.

When you are discussing oil filters and deciding which one to use, don't be mislead that you could properly judge a filter by cutting it open...waste of time. For an automotive application, you're concerned about three things: 1) particle size permanently removed, 2) pressure drop , 3) particle holding capacity, in that order.
Fortunately, there is ample independent (usually unbias) research that may lead you to the same conclusion I reached:
Use Mobil 1 or K&N filters. Don't take my word...you don't know me...I can't even spele...do your on research on the filter properties that matter. An extra couple bucks for these filters is a bargain.
