Went to emissions with test-pipes!

Went to emissions with test-pipes!
And I PASSED. I was worried about the visual inspection, but they never looked under the center of the car. I was trying to get out of having the guy drive my car over the rollers because its so low, he assured me he wasnt "out to damage my car" so I said but if you do, he then said "I know Im in deep $hit", lol. So I said how about I drive around the building, and back up to the OBDII station to avoid the rollers. He said thats not allowed and if I had to do that I would pass/be exempt. At this point I looked at him like "then f'ing pass me" but he decided to drive over the rollers.
I watched him like a hawk, but the car passed over fine, I was pretty nervous watching cuz I didnt want them to see the test-pipes, but the computer guy never even looked under. He pulled the car up from the rollers to the OBDII computer, 30 seconds later he called me out. I passed, even though I have tp's my Z has never thrown a CEL for them. I was pretty happy. BTW I went to the Glen Burnie station. Any of you guys with body kits/lowered or just a front end lowered would have been exempt cuz they cant drive you over the rollers. Anyways just thought Id share for the guys wondering about this, Im glad I passed I dont have to uninstall the test-pipes-saved me 2 hours and some busted knuckles

congrats! depends on where you go, I guess... and who you talk to. Some ppl can be d!cks about it. back in the days in Ohio, my dad couldn't pass the test, and all he had was an aftermarket exhaust for his Suburban... Just went to a diff station, and passed with no problems. my girl coulndt pass the inspection coz of her 35% tint (!!!!!!) but she can be *****y sometimes, so i guess they just didnt like her and gave her a run-around...hahaha

man, my CEL has been on ever since i put on my test pipes, i need something to fake the signal so it dosnt keep throwing that signal.
Also bert, i thought new cars waited at least 5 years before they had to go to emissions?

BTW simple fix for your car would be O2 sensor foolers, or pull over on the side of the road before your test, disconnect batery so the ecu clears then pull right into emmissions, I doubt your CEL would come on that quick, especially if its just idleing. When they check for the CEL you will be clear and pass....

Congrats on the pass. I was thinking about getting some resonated test pipes b/c I had asked a local gas station, whom does the emissions and so on, and they didn't even know what a test pipe was. I explained it to them and they still didn't know. My inspection is in November so I will have to get some TP's myself. Been debating on them for sometime now. Any issues known for an '05? Last I heard not really but haven't checked in awhile!

'05's have more sensitive o2 sensors in the cats. When you put your test pipes just use the spark plug defouler trick and you will be fine. I did it when I installed my Helix pipes on my '05 and haven't had a CEL and they've been in the car for like 2 months. Do a search and you'll find the how-to writeup on how to do the defouler trick. Costs like 6 dollars and is well worth it.
