haha he's way off (1-2 per dealership at most
) Herb Gordon will be getting 4, Frederick Nissan 3, Darcars 5-6, etc. but must be nice to have that much money to throw around. Also he said "i'm big into investments and refuse to let my money be tied up"... then why pay 30K over MSRP
How the hell did Sheehy of Springfield get one? Thats the biggest ******** over,
I bought my first Z from them and when It was totalled they and insurance paid off the loan, they called and demanded a 1000 down payment that I was supposedly suppose to pay from the getco before I got my car

Just not worth it imo, like alot of others have said.
I see a photoshop with the words "owned" in the future...
I don't really see the big deal here with this guys post... he put $500 down on a (now, to him) $103,000.00. Thats Less money put down than I put on my Z brand new. I smell 'fishyness'.
If I were him the more I looked at that 30K being flushed away, the more I'd have buyers remorse.
EDIT:
Just read the whole thread... and it turns out I know the buyer. He is going to auction the car offf, or auction his spot.
EDIT::EDIT::
Tried to hassle him over IM, but did not see him in, so I hassled his buddy, and let him know that the 30K markup that he is paying is bad.. how is he going to sell it for profit when no-one is accepting that much markup to begin with? Oh well.. best of luck to him.

Spoke to another dealership yesterday, and I have to say I appreciate the honesty from the GM. He told me they would not take any down payment or do any preorder. But he did have a list. No prices were set and no trim levels either. Once he knew exactly what he was getting he would decide on what additional options he would add (freebies based on the knowledge the markup would be pretty good) and then start calling people. If people did not want to pay the price, he would move on to the next person on the list until he sold his 3 cars.
He admitted, the markup would be substantial, but would not give a range. Said it was market driven. As a Businessman, I can appreciate that. If people are willing to pay 30K markup, then the cars will sell for that. It only screws the rest of us for this year, then next year it should be more reasonable if not MSRP after the first "I gotta have the first one on my block" buyers get it out of their system.
I will not buy one for that much, I would rather have a slightly used Mas or new M5. Maybe even a used 911 Turbo. But that is my choice.

Yes, as much as I agree - the car is NOT worth 103k to me, it is to the right buyer - and the goal is to FIND that buyer.
Everyone does remember what the 1992 Viper went for? Smart buyers grabbed those up and some flipped them for as high as 250k. We ALL complained about the ignorant people who paid upwards of $3,000 for a stupid PS3 that was purchased for $500 - but, people did, all over - NATIONWIDE.
It's happened with PLENTY of vehicles in the past, and will still continue today. The fact of the matter is, ONLY having $500 tied into it right now (which is refundable at any point making this COMPLETELY risk free) allows me the early opportunity to be purchased out of the #1 spot in line.
Edit - Hi Mike!

Historically - it has happened over and over and over.
The only difference - rather than the dealer calling and asking who wants to pay - people have the option to come directly to me. If several are willing to pay a 30k markup making it 103k, then someone will go 104, then 105, then 106, etc. People are even MORE willing to pay a higher price knowing that half of the proceeds will be split with a charity.
For a REFUNDABLE deposit of a measly $500 at this point (which would OBVIOUSLY increase at time of delivery for the vehicle), there is no reason why not to feel the market and see what happens.
Steve.. you should join http://www.nagtroc.com/forums/ .. there is allot of consensus among the enthusiasts there that the mark-ups are rediculas. Allot of the guys there have already secured their cars for sticker, or with a slight markup (5K) with the same technique that you have done.
30K markup is not worth is to allot of the hardcore enthusiasts. Your only luck at selling it is to find someone with more money than common sense.
I'd either
1) Re-negotiate your deal with dealership with less mark up
2) **** your $500 away and walk away now
3) Start hitting the Dupont Registry with listings
