Default Strange knocking noise

Well a few minutes ago my sister went to move her car and as she turned the car on she heard a strange noise. I went out to look at it and it sounds as if it has no oil. I tell her to cut car off and i check dip stick and the dip oil level is fine. Anyone here know what it could be? The sound is a light constant knocking.

I would check the belts. Before my AC belt broke completely last year, a strip of it had come loose and would slap other stuff in the engine as it rotated, making a light knocking sound as it hit things over and over and over.

Well the thing is I moved it this morning and it was fine. It didn't make the noise until she started it. She said it wasn't as loud anymore after she started it. The car has 421xxish miles on it.

Well I changed the oil and it seems to have helped alot. As soon as the car was started the noise settled down alot, as it warmed up the noise pretty much went away completely.

timing belt/chain? belts?

If it's rod knock it'll get louder under load...you would hear it driving.

I'm not too sure what it is. We dropped the car off at Nissan since its still under powertrain. As the motor warms up the noise is less noticeable to the point where its almost not there. Nissan said they started it up and there is no noise so they're going to hold it over night and try in the morning. I told them its very noticeable during morning start up.

Piston slap? Sometimes you might get a knock when the rings are cold, and as it gets warmed up the rings expand under heat therefore you can't hear the noise any longer. I know some 06's have bad rings/oil consumption, but you might want to look into it further.

Its not burning oil since I changed the oil about 2k miles ago and when I pulled the dip stick oil level was still full. Nissan started it today and said they don't hear anything and they said they had 4 techs look at it. We'll see if it makes the noise when it gets picked up later on today. Isn't there some sort of oil test that has to be done to check for oil consumption issue and to have motor replaced my nissan?

Knocking or ticking?? My exhaust leak was loud upon startup, but went away completely as the car got hot.

Used oil test will tell you if there is a serious problem or not. I do mine every oil change. Best $30 you can spend on your car.

Its not like a exhaust leak tick, its louder and very distinct when the car is started. We picked up the car for the dealer and the noise isn't there anymore.
