Default Are "Smoked" tail/backup lights Played Out?

I had a pair of blue tinted Headlight Armor covers [vinyl protective covers] on my headlights put on a while back. The shop that has my car just informed me that when I got hit, my headlight housing cracked, so not only am I getting a new bumper but a new headlight as well. Just ordered a replacement set of covers and was wondering [since the back bumper is getting work done too] if I should order smoked tail light and backup light covers.
I know it's a personal choice matter, but I'd heard someone mention that anything "murdered out" is out of style now. These wouldn't exactly be blacked out, but slightly darker than normal. Just wondering what the consensus is. And for those that don't know, my Z is SB colored.

I think black cars are the only ones that can pull it off. Just my .02

Blackout is played out IMO

Slightly darker can work if done with black wheels or the correct theme IMO

yea it is and for me it was never fully in.

love black paint and wheels but the whole "murdered out" look looks bad to me. I like contrast.

and the fact that people say murdered out makes me sick.

Are yours blacked out or just dark tinted? And i agree on the contrast thing like someone else mentioned. Short of getting a respray [next year hopefully] there doesn't seem much to do with a black car that either hasn't been done a million times before or just crosses the line into getting your car posted up on www.anti-rice.com.....

The problem with black cars is, you can either do completely blacked out or none at all to make it look right. Since the car is already black, you can go with the "blacked out" theme (i.e black rims, black painted headlights, etc.) otherwise, you lose the contrast between the tail lights and the rest of the car. It looks sorta silly to go half-way black, and rock silver rims and unpainted headlights if you know what I mean. It loses the "flow" so either go all in or none at all.

They're tinted. I got them from ebay and they turned just the way I wanted.

Ignore the dirt, swirls, and more dirt couldnt find my clean pic..

I sorta like the all blacked out look. It might be played out but it still looks good. It's like white girls bleach blond their hair; it's played out but it still looks good!
