You're correct.

I don't have a very good driving record ATM....

However, I will be ticket free in June 2013!

I think I've touch base with you before on that.

Getting quotes can be hit or miss, even more so when you start changing things around like where you live and so on. Once they do the final write up of the policy you will get your TRUE quote before agreeing to the policy.

I learned that the hard way, first motorcycle I bought, before picking it up I got insurances setup, it was something like $40/mo gave them the vin and everything, once I picked up the bike and called them and said go ahead and start the policy, the rates jumped up Into the hundreds a month. Like $150-$200. I told them go f off and got a last minute policy else where.

Had that happen to a few cars. One reason I left state farm is they wanted crazy money for my SUV another one of those once it was all locked into place the rate jumped.

10 years with statefarm, home owner insurance, aflac style Health coverage, 2 motorcycles, 4 cars.... I laughed and canceled everything.

Currently with erie and progressive.

Don't believe any quote until you pay it and get your card.

Looks nice, but it has that same funky rear suspension as some of the Scott bikes. It's also a bit less DH oriented than what I want, aka more travel, slacker geo. My issue is I want a bike that feels like the Glory suspension wise, but I can actually pedal up a hill without exhausting myself.

I'm currently liking this bike, but it's new and still expensive. Gotta wait to see what kind of money I get from insurance for my stolen bike.

25 is ********. My rates dropped like $20.... Every 6 months.

You want better rates. Stop trying to go fast and dump all your money into paying your car off early. A small bump in credit could drop your rates $100+ every 6 months. Much more than turning 25.

Yes I can tell you like the GT3..

Jeffie I have been working toward having it paid off or at least well below what it's worth by next summer so I can still maintain my comfort level as far as finances are concerned when I get the apartment..prospective roommate said they'd be ready by then.

My rates IN baltimore city are $125 month for the wifes mini, the nissan, and the house. One speeding ticket (45 in a 35 I was racing a maxima and won) Thats with Allstate. I call them up every year or so and tell them I want my rates adjusted. Sometimes they take off $3 sometimes they take off more. Which reminds me, I have to call them and tell them im married now.

^^ This man speaks the truth. Always be prepared to enter any venture with the idea that you will have to pay for everything yourself period. If that does not fit your budget at the moment, then stay put and pay off as much debt as possible(cars, credit cards, etc) and get your credit score as high as possible.

Fck modding the car and all that other garbage, much easier to do that when you are debt free

Your goal is to pay off your car and have zero debt once you do that and make enough to cover all of the rent and monthly bills, and have 6 months of rent/bills saved up should you move forward.

Getting a roommate should never be a must do, but more so to save even more money every month.

stepping out of your parents house lined up for success is where you want to be. As it sits now, youre setting yourself up for failure. That's if you can even get an apartment. Most leases require the main person on the lease to make x many dollars. You cannot do main person + roommates. My old apartment required the lease holder to have good credit. And make $44k a year..... That was a 1 bedroom place 2 was closer to 55k/yo

I screwed up my credit in college and spent years trying to clean it up. When I lived in Laurel, they told me one of the deciding factors was my salary. And by then I was already in the $60K range and this was just for a measly one bed/one bath.
If I were S***, I'd stay with the parents until: car was paid off, bills were paid off, I'd received a college degree and stable job, and have several months salary tucked away.
But like Grizz, Bert and Jeff said you won't listen and we'll revisit this in about 20 more pages...

Okay. Well, that's why the place I was looking at was relatively cheap anyway..(660 a month,) and it's out in Essex..15 minutes or so from my job, saves me a lot of money on gas. As far as Internet and TV is concerned, I don't watch a lot of television as it is, an I notice a lot of members have Netflix/Hulu as opposed to cable. I would subscribe to those, with clear spot Internet or something.

God would it help if my insurance was cheaper...

660rent+330ins+60tv/internet+70BGE+250car=16440 a year or 1370 a month. I went on the low side for stuff. Whats that like a pay check?

I'm really surprised the advice in this thread and how honest people are with you even given your history. The past few posts show you that we aren't all a$$holes.

Shin knows how many times I've told him he needs to leave the car game. It's financial suicide for many young people, especially him.

Think about this Shin: How much do you have saved right now? Could you live for 6months without a job? If the answer is no you are in trouble. I assume you have been living rent free for a while. If you have nothing to show for that, increasing your expenditures now will only compound a major problem: Lack of financial discipline.
