Depends what you mean specifically. Alot of costs of these type of project is in the ancillary stuff. The other variable is the exact components you choose.

For a rough idea on component costs, we have the parts pretty much all listed for sale on our website. From there, you would need to consult a professional engine builder on their labor rates for various services, etc. Add in the ancillaries you do anytime you build a motor - headgaskets, water pump, engine gasket set, hardware, bearings, etc etc etc

I wasn't referring at all to the rest of the car - I've never tallied it all up, don't think I want to either! I wish it were only $8k in wheels, brakes and suspension lolol -I would have saved a good amount of cash! If I had to put a figure on it, I'd guess it would be about $10k-12k to build the engine exactly as I did (exclusive of the ITB's), including everything ancillary (pulley, clutch/flywheel), all the head work and machinist assembly, headers, bearings, assembly hardware, oil pump/pan, gasket set, etc etc. From there you have the ignition stuff, ecu, etc etc - it all adds up unfortunately That's without me counting the cost of the donor longblock I used for my build, and not including the "oops" factors - such as the first set of used heads I bought back in 05, for like $900, that turned out to be useless because the guy I got them from neglected to include the cam caps (that sucked!). But at the end of the day, it's all about having fun, and it's been a terrific learning experience. And the best part to me, it's been I think more reliable than alot of FI builds that go on (relatively speaking), and I'm not even close to bored. I absolutely love everything about the car, and I love how she's treated me so far, and I look forward to years more smiles with her! It's alot of money anyway you slice it - modding always is. At the same time though, I did it over the course of time, not all at once, so you get to take little breaks, enjoy what you've done so far, before moving onto another area of it.

These NA builds are making me go crazy over getting some more NA power. Unfortunately, the only things I can do are very expensive NA mods since I've already done practically every bolt-on mod available

Mine is a complete engine change to a Cosworth engine, heads and intake manifold plus a slew of added performance parts and serious tuning. Have a look at my profile, it's all there. Overboard for most but what I wanted.

50k included labor for the build and tuning and that is at a slight premium to get this parts list into Singapore from Japan and the US.
This started as just a block and heads change and kept going until there was nothing else to add to it as far as I'm concerned.
This is in a country where a 350Z costs $100k http://www.nissan.com.sg/lookfor/350z/350z_price.cfm and getting ripped off starts when you buy any new car.
