Default 3.5 final drive on an N/A A/T Z..yes or no?

hi folks

thinking of swapping a 3.5 final drive (the whole pumpkin actually) from a 04 M/T Z with my 07 A/T 3.3 pumpkin... ist a recommended mod for N/A Z's??

actually i dont care about the Top speed, all what i care of is the acceleration. but i heard by doing that, it gonna consume more gas, is that true? means for example instead of doing 100 mil/hr on 3.5 k rpm, will do it on 4k rpm or maybe more, which is very noisy for a steady speed on the highway

keeping in mind that im going to install all parts next week. stillen ceramic coated headers, GTM engine oil cooler, stillen tranny oil cooler, greddy Ti-C exhaust and motordyne ART Test Pipes

thoughts??!!

i did the swap and i loved it. it really made the car 'feel' faster. cruising speeds here are 60-75mph and my car was in the 2.3-3k range, not obnoxious at all.

really wish I would have had some 3.9s instead, but the 3.5s were free : )

I have almost the same exhaust your going to put on, but mine goes Stillen ceramic headers/ART pipes/Agency Power Ti.... You going to LOVE it. Thats if you like loud anyway.
Do the pumpkin swap 100%, gas consumption will increase a very small amount. I still get like 28mpg with a 3.9 fd. (cruising at 65mph on a straight road)

I would think bang for the buck you would be better suited buying a complete pumpkin from a 3.7 gears equipped 07/08 G35 4 door sedan, MT..must be MT as automatics are different.

ok guys, parts are installed and car is done on time.

Parts installed are:

- heat wrapped Stellin Ceramic Coated Headers
- heat wrapped MotorDyne ART Test Pipes
- Greddy Ti-C Cat-Back
- GTM Engine Oil Cooler
- Stillen Tranny Oil Cooler
- Added 1 bottel of Water Wetter
- Added 2 gallons engine oil
- 3.5 final drive

My Review:

Exhaust sounds slightly louder than stock with silencers on, very slight drone while cruising and way louder than greddy evo tt exhaust with the silencers out (will try to do a sound clip). Performance of the car is WORLDS difference with the 3.5 Final Drive combined with the breathing setup.

did a lil test using stopwatch, found that the acceleration improved by a complete second (time to hit the drag strip )

i totally loved the improvement in everthing.

here is the dyno sheet before installing anything

will do the "after" dyno in a couple of days to see how much i gained.

stay tuned guys

Right on!! Take out the silencer!!! Your Z is a HR? Your base seems low in that case.
I made 270 whp with same mods +CAI, plenum, flywheel, osiris. (Rev-up on a DynaPak)

problem is all VQ's here in UAE are lowered by 15 to 20 whp than US spec's VQ's

Did an "after" dyno, and got 261 whp on the same dyno. I gained only 12 whp

Actually the dyno run done on the 4th gear, we couldn't get it till 7500 rpm coz of the speed limiter (locked @ 155km/hr). I think that's because the 3.5 final drive. Before installing it, the dyno run done completely without reaching the speed limit.

My question is, are there any hiding HP's on that missing 700rpm? Will remove that f**ing speed limiter once I get my car uprev tuned again.

Coz I couldn't get it, how come I gained only 12 whp from a headers+ART pipes+greddy tic.
