Are you opening the cover to see if there is contact?

Have you sent the oil out to be tested?

i have not verified there are any shavings in my oil, but a timing chaing contacting an aluminum case makes it pretty obvious

I think you are assuming a lot, and need to dig into it and find out exactly what is going on before you jump to conclusions

I dont, your first time building a motor and you choose a VQ and are suprised something went wrong? It's all part of learning.

I did mine myself and only had one problem (it was my fault for rushing things...)

Either way, I hope he finds happiness in something with more power, I know I will!!!

Was loose torque converter bolts, I torqued them to spec but I guess they need more torque and loctite
