I wouldn’t automatically rule out a turbo … turbo’ing is unreliable when done wrong, abused, neglected, unmaintained.

you don’t even need to spend massive amounts on a blower … you can get an amazing turbo for $500 to $600. Don’t push the turbo outside of its operating range and it’ll last.

just gotta size the turbo properly … I’m looking at dropping down in turbo size to eliminate the lag I have. And turbo technology has gotten 10,000% better … single ball bearing turbo (look at the CX Racing X series) will do pretty damn good.

yup … two different SC configurations and three different turbo configurations. I still prefer the turbo setup.

there’s a reason why many people part out their supercharger kits and go turbo.

I’m running NA DE RevUp with JWT C8 cams with headers and HFCs. You will see a bump in absolute power, but where that power happens is important to consider.

The power band was moved significantly up the rev range and now the engine makes its best jam at 4000rpm up. We also bumped my idle to ~975 to keep the chop manageable and to keep the car from stalling during throttle cut (cams + open element filter + trash DW injectors…).

I was willing to live with those compromises because the car is built for the track, and only really drives to and from the track. If it was a street build, I would have skipped the cams for sure.
Track is one thing, Street is another … further, difference between peak horsepower and midrange torque (when do you spend most the time? Redline or midrange?

OEM heads and cams are good for 600 to 700hp (with FI)? Just go single turbo and enjoy 425hp/400ft-lbs of torque for $5k to $7k.

He was more relaying that statement to me....
I know you can do math and size a turbo, or alternatively I can use my supercharger and have a linear powerband just like the OEM one.
it's the age old argument turbo vs supercharger vs NA... I just prefer the more linear powerband of a NA car it makes sense to my brain and the way I drive, supercharger kits don't change that much if any.
Most people just want more power and that's why they switch, I won't.
Turbos are fun but I don't like them outside of the cool noises, my DD is a GTI and while it is as fast as my Z (if not faster) while it's in peak boost, it quickly wears off, the Z gets going and doesn't stop.

all good points and yes, age-old turbo vs. SC.
I have the F150 as my daily and it's essentially opposite of the Z ... so it's nice switching back and forth between them.

What's wrong with DW injectors?
DWs mostly just drilled out Bosch units. The transition from full throttle to injector cut, and from injector cut to idle catch is really poor. Mismatch between the driver and the (now) drilled orifices being the culprit, I’m led to believe by people who know about such things.

I mean, I’m running them (440s), but I would experiment with something else before running them again.
