Got '06 350z touring last nite
Bought new red 350z last nite & don't know whether to get coating or not and what other suggestions for a new owner and hoping it's ok to hit 6k rpm a bit
Congrats!!
Don't get any dealer coatings. Search the Detailing forum for "Zaino" - it's the best sealant you'll ever use or need.
Suggestions for new owner - lurk around the forums, read up on a lot of old posts. Use the search feature a lot if you have questions, because most of your questions will have been answered already.
For instance don't ask "what's the best intake / exhaust / turbo kit??". Just search, lurk, learn.
That said, have fun, drive safe, and don't hit 6k rpm's just yet. Follow the break-in procedure which is given in your user manual.
Here's a hint - on dry pavement, press the button below and to the left of the steering column that says VDC or TCS off. It will let you drive a lot more aggressively
Keep VDC / TCS on for any uncertain road conditions like wet pavement.
Another trick - hold down the unlock button on your remote to roll down the windows as you walk up to the car.

I suggest you browse through your manual a bit. Break in is 1200 miles IIRC. Also, don't drive at one constant RPM. Vary your RPMS a lot by downshifting and upshifting.
Manual or Auto?

I used the Ming mirror finish. They burnish (melt) the clear coat down to a smooth glass like finish that requires no waxing, except for the mist and wipe kind if you develop some minor swirl marks from washing. Costs around $200 and was worth it to me until a large lab jumped at car while I was going 30 mph and RUINED my driver sided door!!! He hit it so hard that paint was chipped. Timeline: picked up new Z Friday night (3rd of Feb) dropped it off for the 3 hour treatment Monday Morning. Tuesday morning, dog does more then $1200 worth of damage to my car. Went back to look for the dog but couldn't find the son of a female dog.
